to me all 5 are equally important. i think the northen ones are more talked about in this forum due to the region where most users are from.

I agree. long with worlds they are all special races, However I personally feel P-R might have maintained this 'special'/prestigious feeling better then the others. I dunno why.

I vote RVV because its so big in Belgium whereas the others arent as big in their respective countries. Also winning in front of 1 million fans is better than the by comparison very minor crowds in the other monuments.

The more interesting question (and one which opinion will be spread out more equally i think) is which is your favourite monument. THough MSR will suck at that competition.

Been so many threads like that. Almost every year :p
The answers would be;
PR/RVV >>> LBL > GdL > MSR from half the forum, and;
LBL > PR/RVV > GdL > MSR from the other half.

RVV is like religion in PR, but belgium riders take PR very very serious too, I have seen some make it their number one priority in the past, saying considering what RvV means to them.

This for me if I don't have to pick ONE.

I enjoy watching gdl every year but it just seems to suffer a bit by comparison; to me, classics/monument season is spring. Cool race, but just the way it is. MSR? This year was awesome, but compared to the top three, nope.

Far as the poll, well, have to pick one. PR just has that epic craziness that makes it unique..

You don't have to pick ONE.
Multiple answers allowed. You just made the results invalid :D

Well are you asking for fans or for the riders?? As a fan I like: RVV>PR>GdL>LBL>MsR. If I was a "hard man" I would probably like those classics in that order as well...but if I was Italian and slight of build...my most precious monuments might very well be LBL and GdL..So it all depends.

LOL... Look at me killing the poll! Well, the way I see it, the poll is "Which monument is the most prestigious" Not, "Which combination of monuments is most prestigious" or "Which Monument do you like best?" or something like that. All of them great poll topics, btw.

That's my story and I'm sticking with it! :)

Seriously? M-SR and Lombardia are a huge deal in Italy.

I do think that Roubaix is the queen of the classics, but I love all of the rest of them just as much. If anything I'd put LBL and Lombardia below Sanremo, perhaps due to my British aversion to slopes.

This poll (and any like it) was only ever going to have one result, partly due to the aforementioned Northern Europe demographic of these boards and partly due to the weird 'sprinters aren't real bike racers and flat races don't count' sentiment that is so prevalent here.

You are spot on. Lots of fresh riders at M-S-R, has length and speed and only quality riders win it.

Lombardia, plenty of tired riders and Gilbert wins. I love Paris -Roubaix the most but L-B-L is fascinating to see the climbers face off against everybody else.

Flanders when the weather is ****e is potentialy the best but this time not to be.

I love them all equally except for M-SR, which I love only a little less.

Unfortunately, I think all of the Ardennes races (including F-W and Amstel alongside the L-B-L Monument) have suffered disproportionately over the last two decades from proven Clinic winners and podium finishers. Paris-Roubaix and Flanders have been at least a little bit luckier in this regard, and I think it has helped these races in terms of publicity and support (which overlap a lot with 'prestige' most of the time).

If you ask a random person to name one one-day bike race they've heard of, I'm sure "Paris-Roubaix" is the most common answer everywhere outside of Belgium (and maybe even there).

Pretty sure it's RVV in Vlaanderen.

For prestige I say:

Roubaix
MSR
Liège
Lombardia/RVV

My faves:

Liège
Roubaix/RVV
MSR
Lombardia

It's a bit odd for me to write that because the Ardennes are just about my favorite races and GdL is the kind of parcours I like. I'm not normally into flat races as much but there's just something about MSR. It just seems big and exciting to me (at least from the Cipressa on). GdL suffers from its position in the calendar.

Funny, that's the reason I've got it low in my list. It's too provincial in its appeal.
