Which small fish will squish under the Tourish bus?

Right, so, as long as none of these stories made the front page of the sports section in the London Times, the British enthusiasm for cycling will continue to flourish unabated. And people within cycling are on notice that the UCI is willing to take down biggish riders, so don't mess with the chosen one(s). Does anyone have a copy of the Times?

If this is mentioned in the Times, what are the chances that they'll remember that Impey used to be a teammate of Thomas and Froome?

Don't know about the times, but it is on the headlines list of the main sports page of the BBC website and Froome is mentioned as a teamate in the linked article.

Would be best if you guys did a little research before you go of on your moanfest about what is or isn't covered in UK Journalism

maybe Impey's test was meant to be covered up. The UCI assassinated a tester but somehow the truth slipped out ;)

It was indeed. Suspect Froome was giving a press conf, one guy asks the question, they all report it. Article mentions the friendship, Barloworld, the intro to Michelle and the supportive txt to Impey.

Journo also wrote 'there has also been debate over Froome's use of a TUE for glucocorticosteroids ....'

Pretty much a full hand.

Reviving my old thread from last year, so, please, enter tour predictions for the "2015 Broken Needle Cup" or, "Who will be busted before the Tour?"

Starting early, motivated by recent UCI decision on Astana - if they are now as protected as Katusha, who will be thrown under the bus, probably not again another Tinkoff guy, Sky is most probably out as well, I doubt it will be frenchie... then who? They certainly have at least three parameters, team, nationality and rank. And I'd say this year they won't go as high as elite dom like Kreuzi. But otherwise, the criteria probably remain, less prominent team (unless they want to punish spectacularly some big mouth assholigarch), and not one of TOP5 cycling nations. Not calling names, but expecting something like japanese bidon carrier from IAM or south-african bad sprinter from Garmin...

i think Makarov's dough will provide plenty of motivation for Cookson to let that narrative rest for a while.
plus, Zakarin just won the race that Froome won the two previous years.
iow, popping Zakarin would retrospectively look bad on clean Froome.
All in all, a Zakarin positive seems bad for Cookson's business. I could be wrong but I think he's safe for now.

Would love for them to bust Basso - But as that would spell the end of Astana and throw a load of money out of the peleton and probably bring down the wrath of the eastern Bloc oligarchs on the head of cookson I doubt it will happen.

Why would Basso bring down Astana?

Which big fish is going to withdraw from the Tour citing some spurious illness or malady?

Allen Lim really needs to develop a diet that allows riders to avoid the alarmingly common stomach bugs.

And they all need to start washing their hands more often...

Interesting development on the pre-Tour small fish front - after the usual Russian (Ignatenko) we have probably the smallest possible fish caught, The Mighty Ramon Carretero. Will be known as "the man who had to dope to the gills just to finish some races in the New Clean Era" (because juice is not cool anymore).

You expect it, don't you? A couple of days before the Tour. And like clockwork. There it is.

All good folks, we catch the dopers. Nothing to see here, move along. Move along.
