I don't care who the rider is: when people start saying that 2nd place at Milan-San Remo and Flanders is a poor spring, you have to blame those people for overrating the rider.

Evans and Gesink as far as GTs are concerned.

What cannibal 2.0 stuff have Dutch posters claimed he could do?

Many seem to believe that he's the strongest candidate for a podium spot in this year's TDF, outside of Contador and Schleck.

Fact: he barely held onto 6th last year and the field is stronger now.

Did you run out of guys with light coloring to hate?

How about adding guys with freckly complexion, too? Voigt? Farrar? Klemme?

who do you think are the most overrated riders in the peloton in your opinion??? i can't create a poll because i think anyone should have different opinions so you maybe don't agree with my choices!
anyway mine are:
-Haussler No
-Wiggins No
-Pozzato No
-Brajkovic No
-samuel sanchez No

Yeah I respectfully disagree. Wiggins has some nice results to back him up, and is often talked down. Pozzato is constantly slammed by forums, riders, bosses. Brajkovic doesn't recieve much press at all, and he did win a Dauphinee. Haussler and Samu I just think are riders of quality.

The ones I think are overrated are:

Renshaw: people always say he should get his own chances, but evaluating him coldly, he might be the fourth/fifth fastest on HTC.
Kreuziger: was overrated, but I don't know if he is anymore.

About Gesink: to keep the facts straight about him, he may have had to work for Menchov during his 6th at the last Tour, although I don't have examples. He does get too much coverage on here though, as do a few other homers' favourites *coughevansandmartincough*.

yeah i think he is overrated, i think people are expecting too much from him.
Honestly i think i think he is a good rider but compared to contador or gilbert for example i don't think he can stay in the same level!

No one is seriously saying that he is at their level. They are operating on a level that a precious few are at. Still, as mentioned earlier, to finish the biggest event in his sport in 4th overall with an injury, immediately earns a rider a certain amount of respect. What you're doing is confusing "overrrating" with simply several cycling fans strong appreciation for Samu the rider and the image that has been created their (and mine) heads. Most our posts are hopes not predictions although I firmly believe that he is capable of reaching the podium.:)

In my opinion he won the gold medal by luck because bettini and valverde were looking to each other! than after he won that medal it seemed to everybody that he was going to win and win that's why i said that people are expecting from him some results that he can't archieve because he is a good rider but not a "champion" that's it

valverde is not even there, do not know what you are talking about, he won olympic fair and square period.

You don't win a gold medal by "luck". Additionally he beat Cancellara, Kolobnev, Andy Schleck and someone else in the sprint. If he was so lucky why couldn't some other schmuck finish ahead of him? He's only doing it with smoke and mirrors anyway according to you.

Evaluating him coldly, he's the world's best lead out man, which is what most people rate him as.

I'd go with Frank also. Tremendous rider, obviously, but still gets talked up as a GC contender.

Yes it's hypocrisy I know. Personally i think Boonen is amazing. But the amount of media attention is probably a bit out of proportion.

He is the youngest or one of the youngest of the Tour contenders so I don't think it's a stretch to anticipate improvement in his results. If riders can continue to improve well into their mid 30's then it is reasonable to expect the same or more of a young rider that has shown the potential that Gesink has.

Or late 30's if your riding for Radioshack

He has been given a lot of attention, but nobody thinks he can win the Tour, win LBL, etcetera of those posters.

Backup your claims with evidence. Has anyone said Gesink could own Contador? Has anyone said Gesink could dominate the classics? Just to name a few.

Id like to see who these 14 people believing Gesink will win the Tour are.

In before 100 Andy Schleck posts .

Andy finishing 2nd to Clentador deserves the hype. Great results they are...it's Frank who's the overrated one.
