why is basso on that list? i can see why you have the other 3 but basso is a proven GT rider that dominated last year's giro and isn't that old. actually he is 1 year younger then evans whom some people consider a candidate for the win
Purely subjective on my part, but I consider Basso part of the Armstrong-Ullrich-Vino-Kloden etc "generation", and I want all of those guys to go away. Not that the Contador-Schleck etc generation is any better or different, but at least there's not the same taint yet.

That said, Armstrong is retired. Get over your idiotic hate of everything he's ever touched. After seeing this thread, I'd like to see one of the Shack pull off a podium placing just to tick people off.
Yeah, wouldn't it be great to see Kloden on the podium or have yet another Bruyneel rider win yet another TdF? That would be just great for the sport.

I dont want andy to win because I cant bear all the sanctimonious " a clean andy beat a doper, hurrah for the sport" twaddle that all the fanboys will come out with.

I voted Andy.

I actually wanted him to win last year over Contador but I just don't want to see him win anymore, and Contador is strange, on one hand I want to see someone else emerge and win but at the same time (especially after that Giro) I kind of want to see Contador dominate again, to witness something great and almost incomprehensible in modern cycling :p

You do know that this is an online cycling forum and that it's just a place for cycling fans to discuss s**t and express their opinions, right? And that no one - other than you, apparently - really takes it all that seriously?

But that "we the true fans" part made me laugh.

here's the thing,

after all the well known frenetic "haters" had the opportunity to vote - this gave contador an huge advance in the beginning - it is pretty clear that the majority of the non-fan\hatter-boys of this forum don't want andy to win.

most likely, they still see - this is perfectly understandable - contador as the real deal even when situations with almost no true importance (in this sport) appears, giving some sort of "excuse" for the frenetic haters to come here.

as this thread proves, misters:

MJM, terminator, merckx index, dwssonic, ACF, and others,

you guys are not only the cancer of this forum, but also the cancer of this sport. you people only see fanboyism in a different opinion, no matter how logical or well constructed it is, and easily forget that your point of view means nothing because you have no basis, no decency, lots of hypocrisy, blindness and double standards just to make your fantasy world less unrealistic. you represent what is wrong, and we the true fans have to change that.

time to wake up.

regards,

pedro.

sorry for not wanting a doper to win:(

I chose Evans...not because I don't like the guy, or anything personal...I just don't want him to win. However, if he does...I'm sure he will be deserving and a great champion.

that's the hypocrisy part. if you don't want a doper to win, how do you watch the sport?
do you know that you really want a doper to win?

Only if it's Moncoutie I could bear it.

Are you, Sir, for real?

What are you even talking about?

I see the letters, but I don't understand the meaning of them. Call me stupid but I am sincere.

I do not want AC to win because four failed dope-tests, a big bag of blood and a failed plasticizer test*. Call me crazy but I think there are clean riders i the peloton, just not AC.

(*)I know it isn't approved yet but I think we all know what went on during the last Tour.

Edit: Sorry for clinic related stuff.

So out of curiosity what makes you think the guy that sucks everywhere and is god in July is any cleaner? The good influence from his older brother? Yeah, that's what I'm afraid of too.

And AC targeted, what - Paris-Roubaix???

Sorry, but AC targets plenty of races, check his build up for the last few years. And he races to win. Andy has become a limp rag, always looking over his shoulder if his brother is half way involved. I used to like him but I've grown tired of the brothers act. And for such an elite rider, he should have been laying more on the line in the ToC. Let's see how he does this year against a tired and otherwise pre occupied Alberto. His former friend who he really doesn't like as much as we thought he did. I'm certainly not pulling for him at all.

Andy is perceived by many as the 2nd best stage racer in the world right now.

From 2007, his stage race record reads:

16th, Paris-Nice 2007
8th, Tour de Romandie 2007
2nd, Giro d'Italia 2007
DNF, Deutschlandtour 2007
45th, Tour de Pologne 2007
53rd, Tirreno-Adriatico 2008
DNF, Vuelta al País Vasco 2008
23rd, Tour de Luxembourg 2008
12th, Tour de France 2008
90th, Tour de Pologne 2008
32nd, Tour of California 2009
DNF, Tirreno-Adriatico 2009
37th, Vuelta al País Vasco 2009
11th, Tour de Luxembourg 2009
24th, Tour de Suisse 2009
2nd, Tour de France 2009
DNF, Vuelta a España 2009
83rd, Tirreno-Adriatico 2010
13th, Vuelta al País Vasco 2010
24th, Tour of California 2010
14th, Tour de Suisse 2010
2nd, Tour de France 2010
DNF, Vuelta a España 2010
81st, Ruta del Sol 2011
41st, Tirreno-Adriatico 2011
13th, Critérium International 2011
12th, Vuelta al País Vasco 2011
8th, Tour of California 2011

Andy clearly has a fixed calendar, he feels it's working. If anything it looks like he's paying more attention to 'other races' this year than 2009-10. But you'd think that somebody with his level of ability could, even with only a little effort, picked up something in the way of an actual stage race victory.
