Cancellara will try to win important races the rest of his career instead of pile up TT wins and working for GC men in the tour like he did in his early years.

Wiggins for the Tour has to loose more weigth then last year, so he is worse in the TT.

So that leaves Martin.

no one will be able to dominate the time trial scene.

which is a good thing

WC was a lot of fun this year, even without Fabian. i'm hoping for something similar in 2013
Phinney to eek out a close one over Martin

Should be fascinating.

Martin Vs Phinney vs Cancellara for the Worlds and since Fabian is skipping the Tour It's Martin's to lose there.
Wiggins and Froome will drop off, and i feel it's too early for the Aussie's Turbo Durbo and Dennis.

This is the best period of TTers of the decade. Cancellara, Martin, Wiggins, Phinney, Froome, Durbridge, Dennis, Talansky, Van Garderen...

i agree, but i might not be so optimistic about durbridge (he has the pedigree). Neither wiggo nor froome will repeat their performances on the tt. wiggo will become more of a millar or zabriskie level after this year, and froome will become a cadel/contador level rider.

None of all these have the class of a Cancellara. No one can take a corner as fast as he can.
Martin and Wiggins can ride straight very hard, but that's it. If all on top form (which I hope will be the case), Canc crushes them all.

Martin bested Cancellara's avg speed record (for WC TT's) in Copenhagen '11 which was beaten by Wiggins in the London Olympic TT I believe. Looks like Cancellara will have to go even faster moving forward.

The olympics were an anomaly, both cancellara and Martin had bad luck years, and how do you explain froome's medal? Is Frome a better tt.rider than phiney?

Froome was a better TT'er in London than Phinney. Don't know if that will continue. If Cancellara was 100% he would have been beaten by Wiggins in London imo. I think Wiggins will take a step back in 2013 TT wise. Time will tell.

Phinney's progress from begining of the season to the end indicates that next season he could become a real, real force.

Considering how he so narrowly lost out to a Martin who was obviously in superb form (as shown by his subsequent Beijing performance etc) and as we know that he is bound to improve.. it is not too hard to see him encroaching and even overtaking Martin. The question is just, when?

remember that martin had been out with a hand injury and he had problems with tires during the whole year. it was just a bad luck year for martin.

I thought Martin looked to be struggling. He did not go well in the Vuelta ITT (even though it was very hilly) too so maybe he was not great in the ITT area but was in the climbing department.

He dominated the Chrono des Nations as far I recall with a totally dominant performance so I would say that his TT was pretty good at the time..

Wiggins seemed to perform well in all of his TTs last year irrespective of length or terrain. I suspect he'll be at a similar level to last year maintaining his gap on the GC rivals.

However i expect Martin to return to form if he can stay injury free.

The world's course is supposed to be a bit hilly though isn't it? Therefore setting up contador or maybe kessiakoff to do well there.

Phinney will dominate in the years to come and will do well this year but are hills his thing? Have we seen a true, injury free martin v phinney v canc yet?
