A visibly emotional boomcie happily addressed the press after his well-deserved podium spot.

A few interesting quotes from his press conference:

“I’ve never lost faith. Neither did my teammates. I was wrongfully banned for substance abuse, while the only thing I abuse is the occasional CN thread."

"This doesn’t feel like revenge. I did it for the team. VDB was truly amazing today. El Pistolet was ok, but I get that the Contador verdict weighs on him (inserting joke about gay relationship no longer allowed by moderators)."

"I like coffee and beer town. I think I might return here to “train” for next year."

"Congrats to the Hitch. I'm guessing he was the strongest today. I've got to say Scott looked very strong as well, considering he emptied 7 huge bottles of La Chouffe (the Big Chouffe collector's edition). Some people mistakenly thought these were his bidons. They must have been a terrible burden to carry up those mountains. I spoke with him after the race and there was a distinct smell of vomit coming from his mouth. Great guy."

Situation at the first top: Thirteen, Nobilis +2mins Hitch +2.30Peloton with Boomcie, Parrulo, ACF etc.. +2.50 mins Quixote, Maxiton, Eric8-A(clearly they bonked)

1. Hitch
2. Zamo
3. Boomcie (impressive return by the young Belgian)
4. Parrulo
5. Pisti
6. Craig

Does the Nobel committee have an award for sports journalism? This, right here MVDB, is a certain winner.
And, as all good cycling journalists, you blamed bonking and tactfully skirted the real reason for my poor showing...frequent natural breaks. You know my motto: Some see trees where I see relief.

See? Attacking is for losers. Real men don't take the wind until the last 100m.

Just remember; not all people like it when you draft behind them... :p

Dumb Redhead being dumb! Did I finish in the peloton or in the bonk-group? I kinda lost track of myself...

Where some of us more 'portly' riders realise this is our only way on to a team. If i have a good Christmas reckon i can fit 3 of them scrawny fellars on my back wheel without one of them touching the wind. Bit like when a semi trailer comes past you on the road.

In true Vino style I might have to start getting my cheque book out. Why try and win when I can pay people not to?

Whats that in the air? Hitch the new Vino? Shades of PN 03. Shades of Port de Bales? The never die attitude, the will to win, the refusal to give up.

Others saying it was more like Hinault into Paris. The beautiful style, the passion, the sense of inevitability, ringing in his 10000th post like Hinault rang in his 5th Tour. Yes it was more like the Badger.

There's even a whisper, a silent whisper, but growing louder, among those who can still remember, that this like nothing since Mercx into Pau. the massive attack, the super descent, holding it off on the flat, could this be the heir to the Cannibal, the second coming.

But despite the glowing comparisons, Hitch says they don't effect him "It's nice to be compared to the greats, but, well, I just try to win races"

He added that the comparisons though, do not flatter him. "together with Noël van Tyghem and Eddy Mercx, we have now won all the classics. Noel won PT, Eddy won a few, and I won the Ronde van Cafe".

the comparisons only intensified at the podium ceremony, when as the organisers accidentally put on the Russian national anthem, they were attacked by Hitch, and his loyal fangroup known as "The Hitchites"

The ability to pack a punch as good as Hinault Mercx and Contador, surely a further message to fans that this is the real deal.

This is Daniel Benson reporting for cycling news.

ps Thanks MVDB.

the funny thing is, Parrulo would have gifted me the stage anyway. He was only trying to catch me to show what a big man he is, ala Contador Tiralongo.

And now you crashed. You feel that big boy, thats pride ****ing with you;)

Say, this is my first time in this thread and what do I find? A pretty good race. I'd have done better but my coach, Dr. Maserati, was in court and unable to advise.

I will be back, I assure you. They don't call me Maxiton for nothing!

Oldbong and ramganja are unlikely to start the Monte CQ stage on the account that they got stoned and had the munchies big time. Craig1985 denied that he was even there despite rumours that he was. ACF is looking to get one over the Dutch who according to him spent the previous night with lots of prostitutes in Amsterdam's red light district. Bro Deal who is on his everything was better in the 80's trip is demanding that everybody ride on steel frames with down tube shifters, if a rider has a mechanical he must fix it himself or receive a time penalty for doing so. Amsterhammer is set to try to come down hard on everybody by attempting to rule with an iron fist because we're not that important to in the grand scheme of things, except that nobody cared.

Well done, although I'm gutted with coming 6th, perhaps if I hadn't attacked at the start I would have had some power left in my legs.

YOU'RE gutted? At least you turned up to the start line.... I forgot and stayed in the pub
