Who is BPC?

Can we negotiate a truce and get Admins to just let him post under one name? If he promises no more weirdo stuff in PM and to occasionally let off the gas in some topics.

The weirdo stuff in PMs is a lie they put about of course. I only send PMs because I know the post will get deleted. It's not like I PM everybody. Only send one PM today to Hughs.

The problem with allowing me to post is it doesn't work. I end up being able to say things that they disagree with, and that can't happen. So they give the mods an ultimatum - if you don't ban him we'll ruin everything thread he posts in.

The mods have long gotten the message on that.

I can't remember which came first - but they were posting under 2 names, 'TheArbiter' & 'Pro Tour' - I believe that is why they were banned initially.

BPC came from a discussion where someone went and said ban pro cycling - and suddenly a new member appeared with that as their username. Then they had 'UnBanProCycling", 'BritishProCycling' etc.

I am against banning, but obviously it has to be used as a last resort - but pretty much anyone else has accepted their 'punishment' came back and behaved.

Actually - they had one name earlier in the year (during the classics) and they were fine for a while, it was pretty obvious who it was but they were happily contributing - but eventually they started up again.

I think we all should be allowed to ban him for 15 minutes. Slowing him down to 4 an hour would also just about equal the time to get the new email address and register.

Yea, banning is somewhat pointless. The best and only course of action is to just ignore him. I usually taunt him in a PM, report his post, and then put him on ignore. I never respond after that because that is exactly what a troll wants. When you stop reading their posts and responding to them, they don't get what they are looking for. Attention. He has started sending me a PM before I know who he is and can put him on ignore. I probably need to stop sending him a PM myself. He isn't worth it.

Aside from Race Radio, pretty much most of the 'heads of state' are in this thread (uncle phil). There reaches a point in most of the BPC threads when it is clear you guys aren't gonna agree. Why can't some of you just stand down and let it slide by? Seriously, you say this character is hijacking the threads, but you yourselves are arguing the same points over and over, too. It's taken a year for the nasty language to finally go away, why can't we make the next move and get used to another point of view.

Apparently he said some very personal, and threatening things to one or more user(s).

TBH - no, its not their MO.

One thing they do though is misrepresent what a poster has written - which is classic - I actually think if they did not do that the mods might let them play a little longer.

They called ma a 'loon' during the week, but I am nearly sure that is the first time the have gone 'personal' - and even then I have been called worse by other members, so I think the main reason is they ignored their original ban.

I have known people (NO NOT ME) who suffer from severe mental illness. I knew a guy who tried to kill his family. When you saw him while he was on the meds it was completely inconceivable that he would ever hurt anyone. But a lot of times people who take those kinds of drugs also feel 'zombified' and will go off. And once you go off, it's not like after a week or two you decide to get back on them. Usually someone has to locate you (in the klink or shelter) and get you straight again.

This guy is milder than them, but you get the idea.

I worked in a private psych hospital/drug and alcohol Tx center for 4 years. I dealt with people who exhibited his type of obsessive behavior many times. Insanity isn't always what people think it is. I can promise you he has meds he is supposed to take, and he may even take them. There is only so much you can do short of making people Haldol shuffling zombies. I actually hated to see someone who had to be drained away with major psychotropic drugs, and BPC isn't that bad. He is mentally ill, but I don't think he is actually dangerous.

??? I haven't posted there in a couple of years I think. I left there because another troll completely disrupted the forum. There was a software glitch that allowed a banned poster to go into a thread and post, the post wouldn't be allowed, but the thread would bump up to the top anyway. He just went through the oldest posts he could find and would bump pages and pages of them. There were also several other problems there, like months on end where no new users could join, and then an obnoxious group of Aussie posters (I know, hard to believe..) came on and just made the place unbearable.

As for IP, BPC uses a proxy and you can get unlimited free email addresses, so its easy to do unfortunately.

I dont post over there much anymore, mostly just check it out every now and then. But there is a roadhouse over there that joined about a year ago, and he is mega fanboy. It embarasses me thats how bad he is.

Been there, done that before. When he was alphabet soup volcano boy, he promised the same thing...and it lasted maybe a week. He literally cannot help it. You guys think I am being insulting when I say he is mentally ill. In all honesty, I am merely pointing out fact that has been affirmed by a couple of moderators who have tried to deal with him in a rational manner. It is also plainly obvious to anyone who looks at what he does.

I posted as Volcano guy for three weeks. Problem is I called a few people out of the trolling about the ToC, so they gave me a temporary ban. It is quite hard because you are held to an incredibly high standard - just the posts that TFF and others have done in the fake troll threads tonight would see me banned for a month, so it's a different ball game. One little joke and you're out of here.
It's just another little interesting aside about TFF that he's the only guy that has admitted to having a mental disease that he can't cure - his drug and alcohol addiction. He said that he will never be able to cure it.
Well good for him.

If you want to call me mentally ill as a term of abuse, fine, I don't care. I only ever highlighted that to show the mods the hypocrisy. But it's one of the only things he's got to use - that and PMs saying he's owned me

Scribe - as I am sure you are aware, I enjoy your contribution (and you kept me on my toes this time last year) - and occasionally you will slip out the odd strawman, which if I disagree I will challenge and we will finish and move on.
But BPC comes back again - with the exact same argument.

I asked them during the week were they getting paid to post here - I asked them twice, just answer yes or no - and they could not say no.

He already came back. I think locking is a good thing. In fact, I will never respond to him again (when I know it is him. He is crafty in that sometimes it takes a couple of posts for him to show his colors), or to any topic on him again. I will also stop taunting him in emails. I will just report his posts. I suggest everyone else do the same.

In fact, a sticky thread on the fact that there is a forum troll who keeps coming back might be beneficial. That way, when we see someone new who doesn't know who they are responding to, we can direct them to that thread for the story.

Why not just delete anything that gets personal and let him continue under one username? Kinda like for anyone else on the board. He has a point about being held to a different standard than other users. He represents a side of the discussion that is the opposite of the board's tidal sentiment. That really isn't a terrible thing.
