Something needs to be done about the grey area of using cars to get back on, Demare got some sort of Tow, likely to have been reasonably blatant given by what some of his peers said, and the fact that he wasn't too *** to sprint for the win after chasing back on, that said no blatant footage of him cheating means he won the race. Swift was never going to be the winner of the sprint anyways, getting on Demare's wheel gave him a free ride to a 2nd place he wouldn't have had otherwise.

It's likely Demare is guilty, posting his Strava data minus the power info clearly spells got a very nice Tow up the Cipressa, but lots of teams do this to the limit and way beyond the limit of whats subjectively considered fair, so all in all *** it, cycling shoots itself in the foot yet again due to the myriad of unwritten rules that are subjective as hell.

These tricks/rules are as old as cycling itself. Cycling has a +100 years history, so I don't think it's shooting itself in the foot.

Cycling loves controversies by making sure that rules have ambiguities, not applied equally or in the sprint of the sport. Plus there is no way to monitor everybody. No evidence leaves only confusion and accusations but no convictions.
