Valverde is a straight up beast.

He's made of a special caliber unlike anyone. That's at least what i think of him.

He performs at a really really good level every season. He never has meh moments in any race, he's always there and in very different races aswell. No one else can say that.

His nickname during his junior races says it all.
Yeah, that's what we call versatility. Couple that with a good sprint and you have someone who wins a dozen *** small races each season.

Being versatile in cycling usually means you're way talented. It doesn't have necessarily have to mean a bigger or the biggest palmares though, as it's harder to make choices and riders who excel in one thing can just focus on that. Way more exciting to watch the boring and safe choice to just focus on GT's. Even though ironically within those GTs your loved one is one of the most exciting riders usually.

Froome??? hahahaha, LOL, the man is an insect on a bike. Its the ugliest thing you can find in a cycling race. And racing always looking at his watts machine. Another rider that is way talented is Nibali. The man has won the three majors, one week races, and is capable of fighting in classics and world championships.

You are probably responding to my post, and you didn't understand it. Isn't it surprising that when talking about the most talented rider of the 21st century, Froome is not even part of the discussion. He won the TdF. Many did not and get a mention. You would think Froome would get a few nods. Deafening silence...

Following this logic, I'd like to nominate Oscar Pereiro. :D

It's a bit early to say but if we consider 2000-2015 then...

For the women is easy, Marianne Vos. It's the female version of Merckx. Wins on every ground and has already an epic palmares.

For the men is more difficult. Contador and Nibali won all the grand tours but never got their hands on a monument classic (although Nibali went close many times). On the other side Boonen and Cavendish won tons of stages and prestigious one day races not mentioning the world championship (2005 the former and 2012 the latter).

Cadel Evans then. Both Tour and WC, did well in classics.
Lance Armstrong, won 7 tours and WC. did okay in some 1 days too.

I also think that Kwiatkowski is one the most talented riders in a very long time. Who else could you imagine ending his career with all 5 monuments, a WC title and a GT under his belt?

Hard to imagine Kwiatek winning a GT unless a dramatic change in race designing occurs.

Vuelta could be moved back to before the Giro and have stuff like Naranco as the mtfs...

He would definitely need a favorable parcours, but it's not that hard to imagine in my opinion. He's a light rider and he already does well on climbs, although of course he will have to improve his climbing. Also, he finished 11th in his 2nd GT ever as a 23-year-old which is better than many GT contenders these days.

I dont see Kiakoski winning a GT. I think he will become a classics rider and stage hunter. He is talented but way far from Valverde.

Who thought Wiggins could ever win the Tour? And then they designed a route perfectly suited to him and Sky. Maybe ASO will give another gift like that someday to Kwiatkowski.

Has Kwiatkowski ever climbed as well recently as he did back in 2013? IMO his climbing has digressed a little. It would need to be much better than it was in 2013 for him to even start thinking about winning gt's. Also it didn't take a ton of altering to make a gt that favored Wiggins. It would take A LOT of altering for a course to suit Kwiatkowski.

I couldn't imagine anybody, including Kwiatkowski! Of all those things you mentioned he only won Worlds, so I don't get the point

Fair enough. I, however, can imagine him winning it all, so yeah, there's my point.

All monuments maybe. But a GT is pretty much out of reach right now. But then again. Most GT-riders only start getting results in their late 20's.

Well if he is going to win them all. he better start soon, it takes a little time to achieve that... Ask those three guys :p
I remember similar hype about Sagan couple of years earlier, and look where he is now, exactly where he was back then. Boonen, Cancellara, Valverde, Gilbert all looked like they could maybe win all five in early period of their careers, but reality is different.
