Who's the suprise package?

It will be a massive surprise if Tony M gets top 10. Too much big climbing. He will completely crack on some of those stages. I would be less surpirsed if Spartacus was top 3.

A surprise for top 3 for me would be any of the following:
- Leipheimer
- Horner
- Evans
- Sastre
- Basso

I am not saying any of the above cannot do it, just that with the first 2 I would actually be shocked, with the final 3 I can see it being possible, but not really probable (and very dependent on how they have recovered from the Giro).

Not a podium or even a top ten surprise - but Eros Capecchi of Footon claiming the KoM would be a surprise wouldn't it? That's my tip.

Those three are not at all surprise riders, and Leipheimer isn't really one either. Surprise is someone who comes out of nowhere to do well. How can Evans, Sastre, and Basso-who have all either won or podiumed multiple times in GT's-be surprises. In fact, many think Basso is Contador's most serious threat.

+1 agree .Me thinks top 5-10 overall is very achievable..

Agreed. I hear a lot of people saying that he'll be focusing on the vuelta, but he moved away from Cassie primarily to finally lead a team at the tour. If he botches his overall hopes early, he'll win a stage and the polka-dots.

Christian Vande Velde

Has gt experience, has alot of rest this year, has a good engine.

Needs to control his bike tho, imo.

He was a surprise two years ago, not anymore. The only way for him to be a surprise would be if he won, which he definitely won't.

On the Garmin Topic (They seem to create surprises): David Zabriskie. The team says he has focused more on mountians/stage races this year.

Is it a surprise if he gets a top 15-20?? I think he could do that if he gets lucky.

with basso now in, a potentially healthy leipheimer, and a fresh menchov makes it hard for me to see le Mevel in the top 10

Jurgen Van Den Broeck. Top 10 is definitely possible given how well he rode the Dauphine. Okay team backing him.

He's a hack! He got all of his times in breakaways!
