Just always wondered why the team tt in the world champs are for professional teams and not teams made up of individual nationalities? - I assume its because some nations will struggle to get 6 riders? am I right.

It would be very difficult for guys from different teams to get together and train together as a team would be my take on it. They get selected late in the season and then when do they train together considering trade team obligations?

Probably, but it would be cool. Perhaps same as in team pursuit they could do just 4 rider teams

To me a TTT for the Worlds is worthless.

It does not prove much to me.

Sorry, it is just my opinion.

It doesn't make sence to have a Nations TTT and refer to said nation as TTT champion as they would never ride a TTT the entire season.

As good a common-sense explanation as I've seen. The current badge on jerseys is, to my mind, insufficient recognition. Whilst I recognise having a couple of members of a TTT at a GT with others in standard team kit is not really viable, the riders of that World Champs TTT should be allowed to wear the rainbow bands on their sleeves.

Return the TTT as an Olympic event ? Maybe an interesting proposition.

I agree, the little badge is just pathetic IMO. It looks like another sponsor logo but is barely visible (especially if the rider is in the aerobars). And unless you follow all of cycling's races, you'll never be able to tell one team are the TTT champions just from a little badge.

I'm not against the idea of including the TTT in worlds, I find it an interesting event, but there should be a little more recognition of it.

Re. OP, BigMac pretty much hit the nail on the head.

think Barcelona was the last Olympics with a TTT. I think it was only 4 men, and i think it was over an horrendous distance like 70km (remember how long DP des Nations used be).

if i am wrong, i am sure Libertine Segeros and her phenomenal memory will have the factual corrections :)

It would be cool, but is almost impossible, and for the riders it would be difficult because they don't run together during the year.

That is correct, Barcelona in 1992 (the last "amateur" Olympics on the road) was the last to hold a TTT. It would be interesting to see who may front up for the various nations although one suspects the likes of GBR, AUS, GER & USA would look to have the best TT depth although RUS, NED & even NZL could not be entirely discounted. The issue of distance would be interesting and one would hope it be neither pancake-flat or an uphill slogathon.

Yes I agree with this, It just seems a little strange that for the Worlds there is a pro team event followed by world teams.

Some of the pro teams 6 man teams were lacking a little, I mean Greg Henderson in a time trial team, I mean I love Greg but seriously.

Henderson's background WAS as a track endurance rider; not just in teams pursuit but also madison/scratch and points race so it's not nearly so far fetched as you think although he's certainly about due to collect his cycling superannuation.

Like the RR national teams ever ride together as a team during the year

It's because they're afraid Australia will win every year if it was a 6 man team :)
UK could also win of course.

I guess it's less of an issue for RR. Riding in one team in TTT is a whole different story, than riding in one team in RR and requires more training not to get it very wrong.

If having a TTT is what we should have (and i really enjoy it), trade teams is the way to go. Nations don't make sense here, even if it could have a certain appeal, but they got to train together so it actually works and not only once and i do not see that happen for nation teams.
