Why cant they make a racing tire that doesnt puncture?

it's still better than in Pirelli Formula 1 2012 ... they dont even make tyres, which last whole race.Try imagine, that Pirelli crap is on TdF riders bikes. :eek:

But it would weigh too much and have too much rolling resistance compared to tires that can puncture.
So, how about a UCI rule that tires must weigh at least X?
.
(X being the necessary weight for a tire that hardly ever punctures.... which surely would still be light enough that racing wouldnt look any different, except for the lack of punctures of course.)

...not sure if you are going all tongue in cheek on us but in case you aren't....those Pirelli tires are actually designed to various very limited functional life-spans...and the specs, that those tires are designed to, are set by the ruling racing body....was done that way to inject some strategy into F1...and which it has admirably...

If they make a tire that doesn't puncture, then the entire bike tire industry will fold. Or each tire will be more expensive than the bike to cover the low-volume production.
