Hmm, I think you might be thinking of the Breckenridge 100 instead of the Leadville 100 where a sanctioned doper just won the event. Alban Lakata of Austria won Leadville this year, and to my knowledge, there are no sanctions against him. It was Michael Weiss (also from Austria) who won the Breckenridge 100 this summer while under a 2-year doping sanction.
Pretty lame.
I think 2009 was the last year a known doper won at Leadville, but there is a possibility that 2010 was also won by a slightly less known doper. The race management at Leadville has been either embarrassingly naive or willfully ignorant about their 2009 & 2010 winners and have too much hype invested in them.

The PB100 is building quite a record. Armstrong, Leipheimer, Allah Akbar. Throw Landis' and Armstrong's seconds in there as well. Fifty-fifty chance the race is won by a doper.

Lance Armstrong @lancearmstrong

Hey Montreal - anyone want to run tomorrow? Meet me at the Monument to Sir George - Etiene Cartier. 6pm! 7.5km loop. runningmap.com/?id=219916

Can't believe I am supporting the French language laws, buy maybe they can arrest him for not advertising in French.

Dave.

active

no surprises that lance is still active in the sporting community and completely unrepentant

but reporters seem to think that it is good that he has moved on

no awkward questions about the cheating and lying

rather indicative of the morally bereft modern world

I'm rather encouraged by the size of the crowd in the photo in that article. And most of them are there to support Swirbel :D

"Swirbul, who said he sent a text message to Armstrong the night before just to make sure he was still racing, condemned the Usada case against Armstrong, saying it’s 'ruining cycling.' "

This Swirbul kid has a lot to learn, someone should educate him....

also this:

"Kristen Lassalette, also from Aspen, said: 'You’ll always have haters, unfortunately. For me, I believe that comes from ignorance or not knowing the true facts — and jealousy. The community here embraces him and he supports this community, and so we in turn should support him.' "

Ohh, the irony...

Edit: who in the %^&$ would be jealous of Armstrong, anyway .....

If and when most of the cycling community accepts that Lance actually did take PED's, it looks like there is a LOT of work to do convincing the running world of Lance's doping. One would think it is still 2004 reading the comments over there. It's a good thing that track and field as well as distance running are so clean.

over there where? please don't go on the runner's world forums, you'd end up topping yourself within five minutes.

AS Lance is denied competing in more events and it is made public his waning popularity will plummet with the average person that still has some belief in his fraudulent accomplishments.

Man I hope so. If you look at the comments section of the link, every other person states "he passed over 500 tests..."
I hope that when more of the evidence comes to light, more and more people see what a sham Lance is. Being excluded from events like this has to really **** him off.:D

It may or it might actually work in his favour where his spin doctors are concerned.....already saying his foundation is the thing to suffer etc etc

The evidence needs to be in the public domain to stop him spinning it in his favour and all the bull that will go with it.
I do get sick of hearing the 500 test passes myth but the people quoting that are just believing the spin he has managed to deceive the public at large with over the years. The sooner that is torn to shreds the better.

The only way for that to happen is for the mass media to take it upon themselves to publish the facts that are already in the public domain, like the 500 test bull, with the same gusto that they published the lies he spun for years. Some atonement is needed and that is how they could do it if they so wished.

I agree, the more evidence is coming to light that he has passed over 500 tests.

I'm having a hard time with this one: http://www.nytimes.com/2012/08/26/s...d-in-mountain-bike-race-in-colorado.html?_r=1

I mean, I know why; because he thinks he's completely above any and all authority. Also, since he's a pretty good at reading people (like most sociopaths), he realizes that USADA doesn't want to be seen as being any more "vindictive" than he's portrayed them to be. When Tyler Hamilton did some unsanctioned races, USADA and USAC threatened to sanction any license holders who showed up to a race in which he was participating (yes, they can do that). Why does the preferential treatment still continue? Why is still positioning himself to poison the next generation?

And by the Keegan Swirbel, time to grow up. Santa doesn't exist, either.

Aren't you the guy that wrote awhile back that the other dopers currently racing that testified against him would be 'sanctioned according to the rules', or something along that line?

Didn't Fat Pat just jump out of Lance's pocket and confirm the exact opposite?

Are you keeping up with the story, or is this sarcasm?

Dave.

Ever driven 100km to go on a twitter ride with Lance? Some have ^^^

How long can they keep it up? The last article I scanned about Hamilton had none of the usual personal attacks. My point being, there's nothing to fuel the myth anymore and as more stuff comes out from trusted institutions, the more enthusiastic supporters will be turned off. Sure, there's some permanent fans who will look plain crazy as time passes. But, it seems to me what's left is manufactured or plain crazies.

The good news here is it appears IOC sports federations are sticking firmly to the USADA finding without a single explanation given. He's on his way to third-tier events already and it's pretty certain Wonderboy hasn't changed a single bit, so there's more self-induced embarrassment coming.

BTW, I was very critical of the end of the Federal Investigation, but it seems like that was the wisest thing to do.
Give it time. I don't have the patience for this kind of game, but it seems to be working out pretty well.
