Well, that. But because it was Wiggins it wasn't. Apparently?

Froome19 said:A sprint isnt an attack... or is Cavendish the best attacker in the peloton..?
repeat after me: bunch sprinting to the finish is not a attack. again and again.happychappy said:Depends how far out it is. Look up the word in the dictionary.

Zinoviev Letter said:We are unlikely to see an "attack" in the sense of a significant acceleration. He's not that kind of rider. He's not great on short, sharp, climbs for the same reason. He's a poor sprinter for the same reason. He's just not explosive. The other type of attack a grinding rider with no explosive change of pace can do is on the downhill, but those aren't his forte either.
He could take a flyer off the front on the flat and try to time trial his way to victory (in the way David Millar sometimes does) but a GC man can't really hope to get away with that.
The best we can hope for in terms of excitement for him is that he hits the front and grinds people off his wheel, Basso style. More likely, he follows wheels all Tour and relies on his TT to make time.
Dr. Maserati said:Agree with your overall assessment - attacking is not really his forte but it looks as though his biggest rival will be Evans who is a similar type rider.
So it would not surprise me to see an attack somewhere in the mountains to try and shake him off.
Froome19 said:Indeed but in nearly 95 % of the scenarios I envisage that Wiggins will not be worrying about attacking Evans and bearing the possible risks as he will have the time from the TT. If he has already lost time in the mountains which he needs to gain back then I find it hard to believe he will have the form to risk and attack even if it is imperative. The only scenario I see is if he loses time on the descents and even so I would believe he would still go to the front and attempt to break his competitors rather than attack.
Dr. Maserati said:My thoughts are that they will mark each other on the mountains before the first TT and that after the TT it is going to be quite close, maybe 30s difference on GC.
If that happens then it would be worth a dig in the later mountains, although Evans is very consistent and he would be hard to shake.
masking_agent said:I'm curious to know if we will see Wiggo ever "attack" during this year's tour ? I have watched many races in the last 2 seasons, and never remember seeing him launch an attack ?? I guess he's more of the "follow" moves vs create a move. Only time will tell. I think back to this year's Dauphine , Paris Nice and last year's Vuelta.
Christian said:So let me get this straight ... Wigans calls half the forum w*nkers, c*cks, etc ... and no one cares?!
Granted this is not news in the sense that he has flattered us with such imaginative language at least once before but still ...
Or is this already discussed elsewhere??
Oh Englishmen and their proper manners.

Waterloo Sunrise said:I'm sure if he has the legs to take time he will push to the front and see what happens, ala Vuelta.
But that is of course quite an if.
