I agree that it was a dumb post. Not likely the dumbest, as there have been some pretty bad posts.

I would be delighted if I could be informed as to why that is so..:)

Never thought I'd say this, and slightly hate myself for saying it, but this win could have huge implications for my interest in cycling, particularly GTs and not in a good way. It's the British way. Planned down to the final pedal turn, nothing left to chance, no room for improvisation, no room for excitement. I really dislike it.

I'd love Britain to be really into it's cycling, but it won't be. It'll simply be really into it's British cyclling.... and the Tour de France. I've all ready had to suffer fools telling me that Brad is the best cyclist in the world at the moment and I'm just being stupid if I think otherwise.

Sky are trying to single handidly rip flair and charisma out of the sport of cycling. Do I blame them? No. Do i like it? Helllll no.

If you would read my previous posts and comment on why their are incorrect it would be of great assistance, as far as I see it this Tour was missing Contador and that was it.

Isn't that the German way? The British way would be talking **** about anyone who criticises you, having a snobbish and belligerent attitude towards the press and spending ****loads more money than your opponents to achieve your goals. Oh wait, that's Sky too. ;)

The truth is grand tours have never been that exciting. Indurain's wins were boring as hell as were all of LA's wins.

In recent years, I think the 2009 TDF battle between AC and LA was exciting because of the drama between the two riders. Other than that, what a borefest.

I've long thought the spring classics are far more exciting. I'd far rather watch Boonen or Cancellara win PR than Wiggins win a TDF anyday. And this year we saw Sky's train completely fail at PR.

But of course Bradley says no one person can attack team Sky. I guess he forget about Boonen.

Why do the Brits have such a inferiority complex anyways?

But Armstrong was different. They were fragile at certain stages and Armstrong, through reasons best discussed in the clinic or not, was the strongest rider in the Peleton by far.

I'm not really fussed about them doing it, it's HOW they are doing it which really gets me. All this spout about maintaining output etc. is only going to put ideas in other teams minds. I mean Tinkoff is looking to rally round AC next year, will they do the same?

I want the Tour to be won at least partly on the road, not just on paper. Can't see that being a possibility for the forseeable future.

So it wasn't won on the road when Wiggins rode away from Nibali then? And those time trials - won on paper no doubt.

I dunno but the amount of people on this forum jumping on everything you say to title it as anti-British is ridiculous, even if I mean something entirely different.

Even saying things like an innocent: "I hope Contador will do the Tour next year" will have some guys reacting on you that you should celebrate Wiggins' win as it is out of this world.

Well, I won't. Live with it.

I'll wager most of it being on a love for being the underdog. No one believed in us etc. We like the plucky trier over here, especially when they succeed, so why not play that role. The media love it being us against everyone so that's how we all play it. Its highly embarrasing at times.

And all the world over, each nation's the same
They've simply no notion of playing the game
They argue with umpires, they cheer when they've won
And they practice beforehand which ruins the fun!

Yeah, that's exactly what I said. There's a difference between "practicing before hand" and not allowing any innvovation or improv.

You may allez whomever you like. It's perfectly reasonable to prefer a particular style but in the end, professional sport is about winning and nothing else.

I remember when the Australians dominated the Brits at cricket. The Brits whinged (whinging poms) because they didn't abide by the unwritten rules of test cricket. They sledged - they scored at more than two runs per over - Test Cricket was not supposed to be played that way. But of course they had the best Test team for a decade and now Test cricket is played more in the Aussie style than the traditional way. Sky have found a winning formula - that in itself should be worthy of congratulation because the imbalance between the numbers of winners and losers speaks to the fact that it's rare in sport.

No, no I agree. I've already said I don't "blame" Sky, but as you pointed out I don't have to like it. If you find a way to win, then you have to go for it. But the win at all costs method is one which doesn't sit well with me. I'm a cycling fan before I'm a fan of any rider or team.

For the record, I appreciated the Aussie way in test cricket from the word go. It brought a sense of excitement to the sport, which was often missing previously prior to the final day.

OMG, that look, HAHA, :D must be disgusting up there! The price he has to pay ;) But still: Congrats Wiggo, Froomey and Nibali!

Funny but clearly photoshopped!

Is it me or was there no accolade between Wiggo and Froomey this time around? He hugged Rodgers as soon as he passed the line, Froomey was behind but didn't hug him, thought that had happened later on but it was Knees not Froomey...same when the team was riding aligned earlier on, Froomey was the one holing Wiggo's back. He must have told him, it's me/sky or you learn how to keep your trouble and strife under control ;-)
