Will Contador race like this on the volcano?

not sure, last nights climb was a fast teampo climb which was pretty much the same gradient the whole time. Doesn't really play into his strength. He'd prefer something with some change in gradients and steep. That's where he really comes into his own.

Nothing to really worry about yet but Scarponi looks much better than I thought he would. Bit early to predict anything. lets wait till etna.

I believe we just finished stage 7 of the Giro. That was Stage 15 of the TdF. After Stage 15 of the Giro, let's revisit the topic. It may turn out that he's just as slow as a turtle. Or not.

Really? Slow? This race is pushing the pace hard and there is a long way to go.

30 sec back is a nano second at this point considering the climbs on the horizon

Yesterday Rai's Cassani was discussing about Contador tactic in the last days by saying he seems to take it easy for wait the next 2 weeks.
I sort of agree with him althought Im used to see Contador winning everywhere wherever he can.

Really, so when was the last time he won a field sprint?

OT: If you read (that is assuming you can) from Contadors pressroom you might have noticed that Contador felt good during the 7th stage, didn´t care about the sprint while saving himself for Sunday.

Oh come on buddy you know what he means, GC...

Personally i don't see Contador riding to well till the last week. He has not looked at his best so far, but i think we will see him come out later in the race.

That attack was on a 7% part. His second attack was on 8% part. How does Peyresourde compare to the climb of stage 7 in the Giro?

Besides that was stage 15 and he had to make up lost time that Rasmussen gained because he got in a breakaway and Contador suffered from some mechanicals.

Not a single stage in this race so far has suited Contador, and yet he's lost very little time to the contenders (just the TTT). He's in shape, Etna will obviously be first showdown but I don't think he'll look to go too deep tomorrow, just stay with the leaders and eliminate a few of the guys who get dropped.

No, that can be. It is over. He lost that sprint yesterday. What will he do from here? Who can help him now? :D

Seriously, i think you guys might, just might, have read to much in Contadors whereabouts this first, flat staged, week.

As many have said before: let´s wait til Etna and see.

Not really.

But then again, not eveyone is like you and believes Rujano can still win this Giro after he lost 5 minutes on an easy stage. What a talent.

i wonder does Contador have Valverde in the back of his mind riding this Giro, or if he is being smart and riding for overall victory and stage wins are not important, staying with Nibali is his goal for the first 2 weeks.

Scarponi put a lot into yesterdays finish. Did he take a bit out of himself that might hurt him today considering todays big climbs? Edit looked at the wrong saturday!!!!no big climbs. So chapeau Scarponi for going for the stage win!

Scarponi only went hard in the last few Ks and everyone followed... he lost no more energy than anyone else really. There are no big climbs today so he will be fine.

But i think your right with Contador, will just stay with the others for the first two weeks

Exactly, everyone was sprinting at max level in the last 300 meter, because Scarponi was the fastest doesn't mean he used more energy, considering he got 12 boni seconds, seems like a fair deal to me. Besides, Scarponi shouldn't wait till the Zoncolan and ITT, on stages like the Strade Bianche, Montevergine and Etna he should try to get a gap on Contador, not safe his strength untill they get to the parts that suit Contador better.

Yeah, only I don't defend Contador every time and you do with your Colombians.

Dekker was right about the Dutch being hypocrite it seems :D

But that's only because you divide your time between defending Contador and Gilbert.
