Women’s ITT - World Championships 2024 (September 22)

Brown had the better pacing plan which was reflected in her performance. Australia could have a chance in the mixed ITT if they get Bling to ride and replace Roseman-Gannon in the team. Finally, its time for Brown to step up in the RR. She has been a disaster as a team leader, and she has obviously been in form, as evidenced by performances in the ITT.

Dygert with double bronze (Paris and Zürich). she's probably not that satisfied but that's a nice achievement. keep going Chloe!
and Niedermaier U23 champ (let's remember Canyon-Sram set up the "generation" team after people complained about Dygert's twitter antics years ago. nice to see Chloe contributed to Antonia's development (she started in that team)

Brown wins.
She should be required to do Chono Des Nations now, so we'll at least get to see her in the rainbows once.
We're kind of used to not seeing TT rainbows, mind.

Not only because of frequent victories for mayflies like Amber Neben and Villumsen or even Dygert in 2019 (she was always intending to target track at the Olympics before the pandemic threw a spanner in the works) or retirees like Judith Arndt and Kristin Armstrong 2009 vintage, but also because there aren't enough proper ITTs on the calendar for the women.

De Wilde has the good fortune of coming from a country with only one other decent time trialist, so she could actually take part. Unlike a few other strong U23 riders. Completely ridiculous once again by the UCI.

De Wilde isn't necessarily the second strongest Belgian nor their strongest U23 rider either, so if she hadn't won a medal last year, I'm not sure they would have picked her. But I agree there should be a seperate race. They talked about including it next year, but due to the high costs of bringing any riders to Rwanda, I doubt it will happen.

They don't even need a separate race, but at least have separate qualifying criteria. Two elites and one U23 per country, for instance.

Brown's motivation to retire must be big to still be going out after a year like this. Unless the results are a result of her going in with no pressure.

Lets see if Brown can perform in the RR in which she has failed miserably as team leader in the last four championships. She should have performed much better, especially, when you consider her form in the ITT.

I think she could maybe win if she plays it like in Liege, that is: go in a break. If she waits for Vollering and Kopecky to go she has no chance. But I don't think the Dutch will just let her ride, she'll get someone like Vos or Pieterse on her wheel.

That's fine if that happens but the reality is that she has never got to the front of the race. My understanding is that Brown will not be the sole leader at the World's.
