In which of these races Denmark had the out and out favourite? I can only think of yesterday's men junior race.

We're not talking favourites for the gold medal. We're talking about a nation that has been among the five strongest nations in men's cycling for years - and they have won close to zero medals at three consecutive week-long events. Today, all the team's riders were out of it with 50 kilometers to the finish line, even though the team includes the current Danish road race champion in the elite category.

All in all, probably the most disappointing national team of them all this season. In both the men's and the women's category. For various reasons of course.

Only a surprising success this weekend can change that.
