From my limited knowledge of the WJ's, the favourites in approximate order would be;

Ferguson
Gery
Bego
Venturelli
Isabella Holmgren
Sharp
Molengraaf
Moors
Van Sinaey

The season has been largely dominated by CX riders which is nearly all of the above except Sharp and Bego. The latter can probably only win from a long break, maybe alongside Venturelli or Holmgren. Sharp will likely be employed to try and neutralise in support of Ferguson, who has had a fantastic first season, winning Lomabardy, Flanders and has hardly been off the podium, except where the hills get bigger which shouldn't be a factor here? Dark Horse might be Molengraaf who has had a very quiet road season but got her best result last weekend in Spain and is possibly targetting this?

Someone more informed might have a, very welcome, different opinion?

Quite annoyed I'll be missing this due to work as it's the opener, should be good contest, and GB's only real chance of a road race win.
Just finished watching the replay and unfortunately got the prediction right about Bego. Well played to her and the French team for a brilliantly executed race plan. Chasing group syndrome kicked in when it was down to 10 seconds. No one wanted to take Ferguson to the line, and she didn't have enough confidence to attack on her own. Steep learning curves at this level

This race made clear that you have to be in front as a team. The break had two Danes and two Norwegians, and we got a podium with a Dane and a Norwegian. Organizing a chase is almost impossible on a course like this. You just have to be in the front as soon as possible.
The men's race will look different. They are more experienced, tactically better and there are more rider in one team

Can we start calling him Albert, Withen, Albert Withen or something? Phillipsen messes me a bit up given there's this other guy from Belgium..

My dad thought it was that other guy from Belgium.
He... doesn't really follow cycling.

But in the context of Junior races, it should be pretty obvious that it's not the other guy from Belgium.

I'm still not 100% sure what name he uses. Personally, I'd call him 'Withen', but that's mainly because 'sen-names' are boring.

Great race!! Fantastic course and enthusiasm all over. All the corners and short punchy climbs..and hundreds of intervals.. this circuit toasts your legs..Finland's Borremans turned himself inside out.. Fun to watch.. Lots of crashing.. Scotland did it right.. Really good design and made for the best fan experience.. Certainly could see everything.. Right at 20k the chase was fully baked..

I suppose a woman having two children almost 20 years apart is a bit unusual.
Judging by her instagram pictures she has even younger children than the one who finished third today

I still don't know what he prefers, but I did notice that Theodor Storm called him Withen in his post race interview.

One thing I learned on this forum is that the Danes are so cool that they change their surnames every year.

Honestly it doesn't really matter what he prefers, does it? Unless Im speaking directly to him, Im good with calling him something else than just Phillipsen! Maybe he will be enraged if he reads this forum.

I personally wouldn't really like to be called by my middle name, but since I have a more unsual surname. there's no way I would get known by it anyway, if I ever become famous.

He can go more ways than one. On training camp in Calpe in April he nearly broke the KoM on Coll de Rates. You know, where one Jonas Vingegaard once found himself a climber.
Lol, really. Vingegaard needed a full leadout from the bottom to do that time, I wonder if that was the same for King Alberto. But what a freakin menace he is, you were definitely not overhyping him.
