He was wheelsucking in the sense that he didn't show any interest in catching van der Poel, only making single attacks which is not the way to catch another rider.
he looked by far the weakest of the four chase riders when VDP attacked and couldn't even come close to distancing anyone with his moves, he didn't have legs. i don't think anyone really had legs for VDP there.

What a race of attrition and what performances by top stars! Congrats to MVP, he was by far the strongest and even a crash didnt affect him. MVP, having won Roubaix and San Remo, is #1 one day racer now. Mighty Wout second again, strong ride but he wont be too happy I suppose. And last but not least, congrats to Teddy on bronze! Didnt expect that. Top ride after exhausting Tour, confirming his status of #1 all round road cyclist.
