karlboss said:No hope, Cavendish's best year included a Monument an 9 GT stages and a host of other victories, and that was only good enough for 4th. Classics riders have a shot like Gilbert last year, or Boonen this year where that week is worth about a 1000 points. Evans' Tour was worth about the same. To be atop this ranking you need one big win, GT or entire classics season and a very consistent season otherwise. J rod has done well riding two GTs and a solid ardennes.
karlboss said:Does he really want a good showing at the olympics? it's not really his type of course.
TERMINATOR said:The UCI ranking system is flawed since it merges flat road races with hilly stage races. Guys like Cavendish and Contador are ranked against each other despite the fact they are two completely different type of racers. The UCI's ranking system is about as intelligent in design as the sport of running merging marathon runners with Usain Bolt and then claiming that one type of runner is "better" than the other. Only stupid people put stock in these rankings.

greenedge said:Do you think Geox planned for him to be leader at the Vuelta though???
karlboss said:up until now i forgot about cobo, what has he done so far?
what has he ridden? i don't think he's even started anything yet, pretty strong indication he gets a shot at defending the vuelta.airstream said:what could he do? there haven't been races with high mountains so far.

Edit: Rode murcia, GP indurain
airstream said:cool, as i see, it's absolutely normal situation for him.![]()
karlboss said:He'd ridden much more by this stage last year. I thought he might need a liitle form to be super dom at the tour.
Climeon said:I read an interview with Cobo and he said that he was going to have an extremily light start to the season to try and fully peak for the tour and then be good for the Vuelta
Hugo Koblet said:I think it will be pretty close between Valverde and Purito, whom I expect to occupy the two top spots.
Then we've got Boonen, Nibali, Sanchez and Sagan for the next four spots.
My prediction:
1. Valverde - 2412
2. Purito - 2268
3. Boonen - 2044
4. Sanchez - 1878
5. Nibali - 1809
6. Sagan - 1755
airstream said:it's so ludicrous if they really plan to use cobo, the best climber in the team, as a valverde's helper. i hope movistar consider these 2 equivalent сaptains.
greenedge said:I predict Sagan to finish much higher than 6th. He had 348 points at this time last year and this year he has 639 points already. That is a difference of 291 points and he has not even had GD:Sardenga GC win/ any other GC win.
He could also top 5 at the Olympics/ if he goes with the group/ sprints in a good position and could top 10/ win at the WC.
Hugo Koblet said:Now that I think about it, I think you're right. He'll probably end up at 1900+ points.
