I can safely say, that never before in my life have I seen anyone launch an apologia for the medieval church, and against Galileo. I am truly stunned.
Nauseating, I agree. Religious zealotry in all its glory.

Really not that shocking considering 2 days ago he was defending the terrorist attack and 4 days ago rightly got called out by a poster for again displaying his anti semitic tendencies.

it has less to do with the fatwa that was rescinded by the shia ayatollah in iran, (on rushdie), than the salafi wahhabi organisations that are the vanguard of the terrorist asymmetrical strike.

the context is more to do with the West's adventures in mesopotamia and afghanistan and managing to pass of islam as the sole cause. and like the Germans said communists as code for jews, when the West talks of terrorism, they talk in code for muslims.

Sorry Blackcat, I know you spout a load of garbage much of the time, but this statement is as detatched from the west I live in as I have seen from you, and I don't believe it is that much different down under than the uk.

and now another hostage situation in Paris? WTF is going on???
According to reports, it is the same person that shot and killed a policewoman yesterday in Montrouge.

There are currently 2 dramatic situations happening, but both are the "conclusions" of the previous events.

i've been listening to france24 for the better part of the last 3 hours - admittedly with only 1 ear - the are 2 hostage situations at the moment...one in paris with 5 hostages and one in a paris subburbs involving the brother perps holding a single hostage.

a kosher supermarket was a site of a hostage taking, if i understood it right.

and now they're reporting two dead...

I don't know where you heard this. So far no hostages harmed, hopefully that doesn't change.

update: just heard 1 person injured before hostage taking in Paris

The perpetrators have been identified, linked, located and not allowed to melt into obscurity, which would only have spread more fear.

That is one small positive and it presents an opportunity to concentrate the spotlight on these individuals and their responsibility rather than the illusion of some sort of generalised religious war.

I'm with you Amsterhammer! It is mind numbing.

but you cant divorce "Shock and Awe" from this confected battle. The provocation has context. The US and their allies in central asia and the middle east.

Then, only then, lets have this fight over satire in the press, without outside influence. Then mock the prophet.

Mock the prophet now, I will approve of the right to cartoon the image of the prophet, but i wont allow you to whitewash the context as tabula rasa. uhah, no its not tabula rasa.

I don't believe there are many here who would place in doubt the rallying effects on jihad that the quixotic "Shock and Awe" campaign had in furthering the cause of the so-called Clash. However, to suggest that Charlie Hebdo was another weapon in that arsenal is misguided.

It is a domestic affair, purely a response to the fanatical Islamic matrix within France itself, the fruit of a not fortuitous Alegerian (and N. African) colonialism to which, if anything, Michel Houellebecq's Soumission that envisions France being ruled by a Muslim in 2022 is a corollary phenomenon.

The books release was promoted on the last cover of C.H., but has been removed. His publisher’s offices were evacuated shortly after the shootings at Charlie Hebdo and placed under police protection amid fears that France’s enfant terrible may be on a terrorist hitlist. Houellebecq has in the past described Islam as the “stupidest” religion. Wednesday’s Charlie Hebdo ran a caricature of the novelist on the cover, showing the famously mumbling chain-smoker saying: “In 2015 I lose my teeth, in 2022 I’ll do Ramadan.”

I can't get with this post. Better yet I just totally disagree.

Rewind the clock all you want but this is all about Muzlim Terrorist not wanting anyone to write anything about their prophet.

Keep apologizing all you want. The only thing these Terrorist Muzlims want from us in the west is submission.

Those in Dammartin were allowed to be evacuated by bus, afaik with the agreement of the suspects. Those around the Porte de Vincennes remain in lockdown.
