Imagine if Obama had bypassed Congress and secretly sold arms to Iran to fund an illegal war? He'd be impeached tomorrow.

I am not sure President Obama has the stomach for war mongering.

He is not like but “more” like Jimmy Carter. He is a bit overwhelmed by all the corruption around him. Makes it tough to try and trot out some new ideas etc. He got the slap even when his own party was in control! Those fools in Congress and the Senate have us just where they want us. Them along with the lobbyist.

Also I would doubt a traitor like Oliver North would work for someone with President Obama's background. for example not really a military man president Obama is seen as a troubling outsider etc. They liked President Ronald Reagan because he was willing to use weapons in the military and also to spend crazy money on new weapons.

Australia's Prime Minister Julia Gillard has accepted a pay rise which will make her the 3rd highest leader of a country in the world. Interestingly, she is payed more than Obama or David Cameron...Yikes!

Like the old saying, if there's one thing the ALP and the Coalition will agree on, it's about pay rises.

I don't have time for a full comment, but thanks for the good posts on Europe and it's situations guys.

Agree, the US system, and apparently much of the EU is not capitalist. People over here love to say we are, but that's hardly so. There is market trade, but it's heavily corrupted at the highest level where most of the money is. Hence my definition of the US political system being a kleptocracy.

Speaking Republican

""1. Don't say 'capitalism.'

"I'm trying to get that word removed and we're replacing it with either 'economic freedom' or 'free market,' " Luntz said. "The public . . . still prefers capitalism to socialism, but they think capitalism is immoral. And if we're seen as defenders of quote, Wall Street, end quote, we've got a problem."

2. Don't say that the government 'taxes the rich.' Instead, tell them that the government 'takes from the rich.'

"If you talk about raising taxes on the rich," the public responds favorably, Luntz cautioned. But "if you talk about government taking the money from hardworking Americans, the public says no. Taxing, the public will say yes."""

2nd Amendment Remedies (foxnews)

""The Fox panel was discussing families in Arizona who posed for Christmas card photos with Santa Claus while the parents and children held a variety of firearms. Now, it is unclear what the relationship Christmas, Santa Claus, families, and machine guns is about, but perhaps in Arizona it is a custom to associate the birth of Jesus Christ with bazookas and AK-47s. One of the panel members, Greg Gutfeld, was commenting on how awesome it is that Americans have a love-affair with guns and how he likes that it “scares the hell out of visiting Europeans who already think we’re crazy people and they think my god, we’re never invading this country.” Gutfeld is correct; Europeans do think Americans are violent nut-jobs for the wild-west mentality that guns solve all problems, but he could not help but throw out a not-so-veiled threat at the Occupy movement. He continued that, “plus, it’s a reminder to all you Occupy Wall Streeters that if there is a revolution, the other side is better armed.” One of the women panelists added that, “we have better weapons.” Wait, what? Who said the Occupy movement was armed or considering a violent revolution?

It's quite sad how pathetic Iran has become. What a waste of potential.

If I was president of the USA I'd piss them off by calling them Persians and referring to their country as Persia

Redtreviso I also wanted to add some more random opinions on the Preoccupied Wall Street peeps.

Here where I am at ....... ….. every day I hear or overhear someone complaining that there is a shortage of Engineers. All types of Engineers (Electrical, Mechanical, Structural, HSSE etc.) our company has just recently bought a engineering staffing firm in India to fill many of those shortages. We also have ongoing recruiting going on in China for Engineers. We also have shortages in many of the Design fields and many of our Technical operations along with field operations.

Why is this? Meanwhile I see on my interwebs cycling forums peeps complaining about the poor OWS’ers. They have no job and the government needs to give them one. The government needs to pay for their education. The government needs to guarantee them a place to live. ON AND ON.

What someone (their parents probably) should have done was tell them before they went off to college that it is NOT just about the PIECE OF PAPER (“I do not care what it is as long as you have a piece of paper is a bunch of crap) just get that Degree. It is about substance about doing something people are willing to pay for. SO WHAT you have a fine arts degree and now you cannot find a job? WOW who would have guessed that there are only so many museums in the country and or teaching jobs in the country? NOPE you are not going to make much money at some bull crap degree where nobody wants to pay you a chunk of change to tell them about the fine arts. They went out and got student loans for majors that they had no business getting. Nobody wanted to tell them that yeah go for it,,,, but the chances of you getting a job in that field are slim to none and you will max out at 35 grand a year. I am not just banging on the fine arts but that happen to be the example I could come up with.

Someone should have told those folks to reset and either get a major that will pay or do some research and find out what technical degree’s or certificates it takes to be a working part of the system.

I know someone who has a PHD in French Literature. He is all ****ed because his job at the University only pay’s him about 35 to 40 thousand a year. Wow he should be happy he has JOB. I for one will not pay all my whisky tango “kids” to take French Literature.

Jeremy Clarkson, normally a paragon of sensitivity , has lined himself up for a possible court case for saying that all the UK public sector workers going out on strike should be shot. It's all a bit over the top (as usual with Jeremy). Here's the transcript and video of the "interview". An obvious (but sick) joke.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/2011/dec/01/jeremy-clarkson-one-show-strike

As for the Euro crisis. I'm pretty sure that it's the politicians giving prior warning of a major package/agreement. There's no way they'll let the Euro disappear. Here, all our savings would turn into New Irish Pounds, which would lose their value overnight. On the other hand, the funds for our mortgages came from Germany and have to be paid back in Euro. It's the same for Spain, Italy, Portugal and Greece. Pretty soon, the recession would hit Germany and the Netherlands.

Still, it's definitely not going to be fun.

The Muslim Brothers, as expected, won the first round of democratic Egyptian elections.

When you know how the working poor in the US cling to bigotry, guns and religion, why would you expect anything different from the working poor in Egypt?

No, they don't. They used to be called Persians until they specifically asked the Western media to stop calling them like that(I think after the Shah was dethroned).

Persian is a Greek word, which explains their dislike for it.
