So I looked up what it is and it turns out to be this:

Where the heck is that 600m pass?

I think it is this one

6km at 5,7%, to a height of 588m; but with a kilometer of 10%.

Now, if they make a hilly stage in the TDF with climbs like that, I'm supporting Yorkshire 2016.

Oh wait, they are bidding against Scotland right? Scotland probably has better climbs. But a combi, with a prologue and two hilly stages in Scotland/North England before flying to France should be perfect. :D

My memory from the discussion on Eurosport during the tour was a start in Leeds for the first stage with a finish on the coast in Scarborough (scenic castle for the 'coptor shots) via the Dales or Moors (don't remember which) and a second stage starting in York and finishing in the south of the county (Sheffield, Hull are the two names I've seen mentioned) which sounds like a pure sprint stage too me.

Although perhaps the starts are the other way round as a prologue around York makes a lot of visual sense.

anyways, the route has already been planned apparently.

If they finish in Sheffield and have a pure sprint stage, then it's a serious let down, because that city is far from flat. Lots of short and steep roads.

Fred Truman would be even better.

He would indeed, except he's been dead for 6 years. Still would sound better than P&P though.

AFAIK they dont have rest days in the first week, so would need to finish the stay within range of the tunnel or a port to shift the convoy across. Wouldnt fancy the drive from Sheffield to Dover after 5 or 6 pm.

I thought they had a ruling re' the rest days but after this years Tour I was unsure
