Those photos on Facebook seem to capture something of the force of the water.

The impression I get is that people in Toowoomba weren't expecting it. Could that be right?

The crazy thing about Toowoomba is that if you drive out from Brisbane, you have to go over a massive mountain (called The Great Dividing Range) to get to Toowoomba and the CBD sits in between two valleys. So far 8 people dead and 72 people missing.

Put it this way, if a bike race where to finish onto of the mountain pass you drive up when going to Toowoomba, everybody in PRC would be frothing at the mouth at such a prospect, because not only is it a long climb, but very steep as well.

More on Toowoomba

With 22.5 inches of snow (57 cm), this storm set a record for most snow falling in 24 hours.

Holy ****, I have to say I've never seen that much snow in my life, outside of ski fields.

It's raining. Tomorrow, it's supposed to rain. Tuesday, they're calling for showers with some rain added. Wed, sunny from 6:01 to 6:03, then rain. Thursday, heavy showers mixed with downpours. Friday, try to remember what the sun looked like. Go kill my brother for encouraging me to move here. Then walk home. In the rain.
