Are any of the snakes good to eat? Rattlesnake is sometimes eaten here in the states. I did go on a rattlesnake hunt once. but no luck.

I haven't, but Dad has apparently. They're all muscle so they should taste good, but lots of ribs! Ferminal - that was disgusting! Thanks for sharing. :)

I tried rattlesnake once, at a steakhouse in San Antonio, Texas. It was a couple of years back, but as I recall it neither fantastic or horrible. I remember being slightly pleased that I only tried a couple of bites from my dad, and that I had a 32 ounce sirloin steak to eat for myself.

Username "Laziali" = fans of Rome's second football team, Lazio. Also know as L'Aquila (the eagles), biancoceleste (the white and sky-blues).

I have some very nice photos of your ultras in full flow that one of the fans sent us for our corner bar, sadly I haven't been able to display them because we moved to a new ground without a similar facility :(

My username is a type of pea named after the village where I live. The avatar just combines two of the loves of my life (no, I'm not including the footballer, just the game he plays) :D

About 4 feet if memory serves me correct. Dad started catching snakes when he was in boarding school and never stopped. I have never caught them but have no problems handling them. I prefer to photograph them and leave them otherwise undisturbed. We certainly have some funny stories though. I remember Dad was trying to catch this one snake, called a Dugite (similar to a Western Brown Snake), and this snake was aggressive. My sisters and I were watching from the car - Dad would run after the snake and then you would see him turn and run in the opposite direction as the snake turned on him and sped after him. It was like a cartoon. Another time we were at Kruger National Park in South Africa and Dad just jumps out of the moving car without notice and without looking for lions. We had no idea what was going on until he comes up with a Puff Adder. It was only after taking photos of Dad with this Puff Adder that we realized we better check for lions and hop back into the car. Good times!

Man your childhood was so much more exciting than mine.

I don't think I've ever seen a 4 foot snake...that wasn't in cage.

Well...my avatar is really me and my user name is not my real name though. It's a name that I just made up the first time I signed up at MySpace then I've been using it ever since.

Watching Roger De Vlaeminck in 'Sunday in Hell' and those other 70's era vids got me back into cycling and racing after a 4 year hiatus during High School in the early 90's. The owner of the shop I raced for handed me these vids too get in the mood and RDV really inspired me, more than Merckx even. Dude really had the sickest bike handling skills if you really watch him roll the pavé, so I modeled my riding after his. There's a reason he only punctured once in 14 editions of Roubaix, and it was more than just luck. He could read pavé like a surfer reads a wave, and still does at the age of 62, and he's still probably the strongest rider from his era. Known to put the hurt on the youngsters on local training rides even to this day. I only hope that I can keep riding like that when I'm that old.

His 32 year old record of 4 Roubaix wins could be equaled this year by Boonen, and even surpassed by him during the remainder of his career. My screen name might be modified slightly if that happens but stays RDV themed, and the avatar too.

Username - On some other forum about 3/4 years ago I was called 'luckyman' after a song I liked back then. Then I changed it to 'boy' seeing as I was a boy then. Just kept it and use it pretty much everywhere (on the internet).

Avatar - Always liked Sylvain, attacking and (presumably) clean. Moved to QST now so that could be doubted

Angliru as many already know is a famous steep climb in Spain that is occasionally used in the Vuelta. I guess it could be said in terms of difficulty it's on par with Zoncolan, Mortirolo and Ventoux.
Most recent winners of the Angliru stage include Contador, Heras, and Simoni. Since I'm quite partial to the Spanish speaking climber types I thought it was appropriate.

The avatar is of one of my favorite jazz artists, Miles Davis. Someone whose music was introduced to me by my parents and each and every time I listen to his music fond memories come to mind. Two of his most important releases were playing endlessly in my first year of life and they are permanently embedded in my soul.

my user name is utterly meaningless and was picked at random. I think any questions about my avatar should be answered by my posts in the obama thread.

Well my username is a combination of my father first and last name and 10 is the age of my son when I joined, and my avatar used to be Greg Lemond but I prefer the look on Lance face on the lowest step of the tour podium

Every time I see that pic of Miles Davis, the very first thing that comes to mind is that love scene in Jerry Maguire when they are playing that tape of Mingus' Haitian Fight Song and Jerry/Tom goes 'What IS this music?'.

Saw Davis live (on TV) very nice. I can't bear Jazz recorded in a studio (no disrespect), but live it's ...well LIVE. It's outstanding.

'They' say there are pictures of him on pave where you can see a space between his tires and the cobbles. He floated over them.

When I first got really active on the Internet and needed a username that would last, I was studying classical fencing of the French school. There were free private lessons at first, then group practices three days a week, plus I bought and read fencing books, and read others from the library, collected swashbuckling movies, etc. I've got a fencing dummy with adjustable arm that was built for me by the college professor who designed it. Theswordsman felt like a good fit then, and still does.

The avatar is Michelangelo's David with a fencing mask and weapon. I've got it on a coffee mug, T-shirts, sweatshirts, a baseball cap...

Username- What I would put on a cardboard sign and hold while standing on an interstate off ramp. I'd probably stay hungry, but hey, its better than offering to mow their lawn or clean out their gutters. And obviously it is a play on the saying "food for thought."

Picture- I saw it and it just kind of fit my persona. It looks like an alien splatting a bug...

Username - I am a new dad and my daughter tends to alert us she is going to wake up soon by letting loose a 'mattress ripper' (all the parents will appreciate this :p). I sometimes also possess this capacity (although I need to put some effort into it!)

Avatar - I just liked it ... I think whoever created it used a clever play on words as well as branding. Oh, and all the LA chatter when I joined the forum kinda influenced my choice :)

Username = my makeshift cycling wallet. It's just a sandwich bag for my i.d., bankcard, cash etc.

Avatar = Rama - an avatar or manifestation of the Hindu deity Vishnu. I'm not suggesting I'm Rama. I just nerdy, and like having an avatar that's an avatar.

My name is Scott and I like beer. Too much actually as I'm concerned there may be a slight problem.

Which beer is that in the avatar, Scott? Makes me thirsty every time I see it in these forums.

My "name" is what I am: an arriviste. I'm a johnny come lately, but not really a new kid in town.

I was a useful junior rider in the very early 90s, when my favourite team was Panasonic Sportlife (cf. avatar) in the heady days of Ekimov, Ludwig, Van Lancker, (Eddy) Planckaert and Fondriest. I tried to support Novémail-Histor after Fondriest went to Lampre and the 'Sonic folded but it just wasn't the same.

I stopped racing because I had exams, I got into chicks and booze and anyway I'd been utterly outclassed in my first and only international race. :D

I've lived in Belgium for a couple of years now but last year I watched the TdF every day while on holiday in France and... well, it was irresistible. :D

So I'm hooked again. If there was doping for spectators, I'd have been busted already as a recidivist addict. I even thought about riding again - one of my old training partners has just restarted racing at 33 and podium'd in his first shot. However I have no intention of getting outclassed in an international race again. ;)

Basically, while I am a writer I have absolutely no sense of popular culture and I am too boring to think up a snappy moniker, so I use my given name. I find myself being more careful in my postings as a result.

SoCal, maybe you have hit on the elusive performance enhancing drug I have been seeking to improve my writing.

Name - Just like the sound of the word. Probably named it after watching a Nat Geo documentary on Japanese Samurai swords.

Picture - taken from Hakan Empire, my bros streetwear brand.
