Which beer is that in the avatar, Scott? Makes me thirsty every time I see it in these forums.

My favorite beer, the infamous Belgian Trappist Wesvleteren 12. I'll be in Bruges in a few weeks and have Belgian friends who have picked up a few cases of the 12 and the 8. Looking forward...

I thought as much! Not too easy to come by because the brothers are a bit funny about commercial sales. I know one guy who calls up the monastery direct for a case or three every year.

I like to get out of town every once in a while and visit an old-fashioned Flemish drankenhandel. Some of them, like Dranken Geers in Oostakker, make things easier by displaying the beers like a supermarket.

Not too sure, something about his old Joker avatar I think. Was it Obama? I never looked closely. I think he's just testing the waters to learn if his 1st Amendment rights apply to internet fora. :D

There were satirical political posters mocking Obama's campaign posters (i.e. the famous hope poster) and that was one of them. I believe the full poster said "Socialism" just below the picture of Obama as a clown.

El Oso

My mom described me as a bear when I sleep and I'm as grumpy as a bear when I wake up or don't get enough sleep. My girlfriend heard this and ran with it calling me a bear. Oso is spanish for bear. In retrospect I should have gone with "Beare" since that's Irish for bear and I'm a Sullivan, possibly of the Sullivan-Beare clan (research to follow).

Got the avatar from a t-shirt design I saw somewhere. It incorporates bear, bike, and California (native Californian).

Hi I'm New

I thought this might be a good way to introduce myself....

In the pic I'm the female behind JJ Haedo at the 2007 Philadelphia race. CSC was trying to get into our company to do some work and as I was in a position to impact the decision I received invites to any race they were riding domestically.

My dad was a domestic pro rider and also owned a bike shop in NJ, all before I was born. However I grew up with the sport and have an abiding love of cycling and I've followed the pro road race season since I was a tot.

Yesterday I retired :) and will now have time to devote to cycling forums!

It's nice to meet all of you,

Carols

Hi there and welcome. I'm fairly new here myself. :)

I took this pic of JJ's kid brother Lucas Sebastian on the Molenberg at the recent Omloop Het Nieuwsblad. He was a long, long way off the back but he finished the race that day.

I was about the 10th person to join here, so I had my pick of names, and chose the grandest climb in cycling. I use my actual name or another moniker in other forums, but I share the same name as a great ex-pro, so I avoid it in cycling circles (no, my parents didn't name me Joop!). ;)

The avatar is of Pascal Richard when he won his gold medal in the 1996 Olympics. I love the Olympics and have since a boy, and loved Pascal. Very easy smile and seemingly likable guy. Plus I liked the way he raced. It's just a great photo too. I love the pure joy of cycling you can see in it.
