Not surprised after his injury at the start of the year and then lockdown. Shame Sutherland spent his best years beating up the US domestic circuit, he's an underrated rider.
Serge Pauwels ends his carreer at almost 37. His best results are:

Remember him from a lot of TDF mountain stages, he was the equal of de Gendt for a couple years in the breaks. Really should have gotten a stage at some point.
Next to Cavendish, another rider who will possibly retire after the Scheldeprijs is Kris Boeckmans. Once one of Belgium's fastest sprinters, the now 33 years old rider unfortunately never reached his previous level again after his horrifying crash in the Vuelta of 2015 (injurywise comparable to Jakobsen, with multiple days in a coma).
Boeckmans became European champion U23 in 2009 (Sagan, Kristoff and Modolo in the top ten) and has 11 pro wins. Eight of them, Le Samyn and Nokere Koerse among others, took place in the same year of that crash. Talking about a ruined possible breakthrough.

Apparently, following multiple injuries, he can't ride the bike without pain anymore, and he can't reach a WorldTour worthy level again. A 10th place in Kuurne was his best result this year, in 2018 he became 5th in Milano-Sanremo.
Roelandts became Belgian champion as a neo pro in 2008 and got his only World Tour victory that season in Poland. In the end his tally stops at a rather disappointing total of 8 wins. Best high placings are 3rd in de Ronde van Vlaanderen (2013) and Milano-Sanremo (2016) and 5th at the Worlds (2011).
Due to a shoulder injury since the BinckBank Tour, he misses the Ronde and unfortunately won't have a goodbye race.

True. And his solo in the legendary wind edition of Gent-Wevelgem anno 2015.
That he never got to taste the fruit of victory for that ride is one of the worst miscarriages of justice in modern cycling. If he had to lose, it had to be in an epic La Course 2018 chasedown on the line that could go down as an all-timer. A 7th-place finish in many editions of Gent-Wevelgem is a nondescript sprint placement behind the winning group, looking at the results sheet you might just think it was a group of 8 that got away and he dropped off after working for Debusschere and not realise that he was a king amongst men.
