A major fail by TBE - Had 5 or 6 riders in the group - Needed one rider on the front when the break went and then Chaves to bring it back on the last final climb - TBE have a limited roster so they need to take their chances.

I think he might have been a little bit gassed that time...
That 's possible, but like i said, Campenaerts was in the same break all day and was doing most of the work there. After that, they were both just hanging on to Evenepoel. The stage 3 days earlier where Campenaerts couldn't hold the wheel of Evenepoel, showed that that was far from a comfortable ride for Campenaerts as well. I think it's fair to say Campenaerts was also gassed.

Of course, Kron was only 20 back then, so he might have grown stronger and he might have started focusing more on his sprint as well.

I don't know what to tell you but evidently that sprint did not say anything about his current sprinting level.

I think most people are saying that a sprint after being in a break and suffering all day isn't the same as sprinting after a 20km break. Him beating Ulissi last year in Luxembourg was probably a better indication.

So why exactly Movistar pulled so hard? To drop Sagan to let his GC team mate later because they were done? Questionable tactics.

That second break today really didn't go on long and Kron didn't do much work in it.
So I have no idea what his level really is, but at the beginning of the season the moderators here were going on and on how he's one to watch.
We will see what more is to come.

Movistar doing its things... :tired:
Edit.: to be fair, they probably though they would decimate more the peloton; when they saw there were still 100 riders they knew the stage was very difficult.

I was wrong about TBE - They had the whole team in the split - They should have brought that break back, especially seeing only 2 riders will go 'full gas' in tomorrow's ITT.
