Don't know if already considered earlier on this thread but someone to tell me why the Sky chased Nibali?

If you're not sure of your leader, boys, it has no point chasing a breakaway. Your stupidity destroyed what could have been one of the greatest epic in modern cycling. Well done !
If you want to have an epic victory, you'd better not come to a near-complete standstill. Which is what happened to Nibali.

Their "stupidity" allowed them to play their cards in the finale. Urán had just been 3rd in Emilia and Sky was justified to be pretty sure about their leader.

Practising for next year already. :D Though Nibbs would have been caught anyway (perhaps on the last climb) - too much flat after the Ghisallo.

Because a 1% chance of victory is better than a 0% chance.

Uran didn't have the legs in the end. It happens.

Plus even if you are not sure of your leader it has no point in having a favorite ride 2 min ahead of your leader. You can't win a race if you are 2 minutes behind, better to close the gap and fail than to do nothing and fail.

And this is why the result kinda makes me happy since if that was his only chance to ride as a leader in a monument he made the most of it.

I think he was more likely 3rd leader after Fuglsang and Monfort ... which makes it even better

What an idiotic post. Sky were chasing for Uran (it was was perfectly clear who they were chasing for). He just didnt have the legs.

any got full final classification?

i am curious to see where rui costa ended up. he was dropped after samu ans cunego and seems to have finished around 15th so not a bad result i would say

there was one movistar in the 3rd group with Barredo, I think Marcato and one rider of Geox and SaxoBank (sprint for place 11 - I expected it to be Lastras, but did not have a closer look - if it was Costa he is 14th)

this new route is good but i think it needs less flat btw the Ghisallo and the last climb. not because i like nibbles but simply because with this much flat it will always be decided on the sprint up the last climb

Exactly.

Although maybe it was worth telling the Pozzato haters that after San Remo ;)

this.

the idea that a opposition team should not chase, because of a potential "epic" victory is stupid.

Sky tactics were baffling to be fair, Rogers and Cummings working for Lovqvist maybe, but then Lovqvist started chasing for Uran?

Then Uran went out the back.

And Anglirú (8th there, 2008). He was 11th in the Vuelta that year too.

It was just Angiliru no Zoncolan, so not quite as impressive :p though still great memory from youngest to remember it.

Where did Uran finish, tell me?

Not even a top10 contender. He should have known it. This is not Emily, it's Lombardy.

Oh, didnt realise you were trolling. Shouldnt have bothered responding to your first post

So as team DS, sitting in the car, what would you say over the radio?

"Hey boys, we're not gonna chase this one. We think the opposition deserve the win. Who's with me?"
