Let's take a look at the most important teams and divide them into three groups.

SPRINTER TEAMS:
Katusha - Kristoff
Orica - Matthews
Cofidis - Bouhanni
Dimension - Cavendish

IN BETWEEN TEAMS:
Tinkoff - Sagan
BMC - Van Avermaet
Ettix - Boonen, Stybar, Gaviria
Lampre - Ulissi

NON-SPRINTER TEAMS:
Trek - Cancellara
Astana - Nibali
Movistar - Valverde
Sky - Thomas, Stannard

I'm pretty sure that Cancellara will not attack. He will follow, but not attack.
Nibali said that it's suicidal to attack at Cipressa...In this case I hope Astana will go nuclear on Cipressa and drop half the peloton. On Poggio you can't drop anyone.

Matthews is in between because he can wait for the sprint or go with the attackers. He is very versatile. He would lose in a straight up sprint with Kristoff (and probably Bouhanni as well.) Like Fabian, I expect him to go with any attackers, because his chances will increase.

Matthews is someone that I suspect would not risk a safe podium place for a shot at victory, at least not yet. Hope he proves me wrong though

I agree that Matthews will want to get rid of Kristoff, and he has the team for that. Cancellara probably has plans to attack, but very late, after the Poggio.

I guess, I'm thinking he'll go with the attackers, because the sprint teams are weaker this year. Katusha is missing Paolini, Giant isn't working for a sprint, does Cofidis have a strong team for Nacer in this sort of race? I see a lot of riders that will have to go early for the win. Stybar (he's their main leader), GVA, Nibbes, Sagan will probably go early just because...I'm sure Orica will wait and see how things go. He might have to go with the attackers even if it's just to podium.

I'm not the greatest fan of San Remo specially when people consider it the sprinters classics. But there is an undeniable beauty associated with this race that starts so quietly but you can feel a big wave of tension building up, specially when they start hitting the Capo and then towards the iconic climbs of Cipressa and Poggio. This and the Primavera symbolism, rebirth after the long winter, it all adds up to make up such a special race :)

I'm quietly rooting for Matteo Trentin, really classy rider and he has a nose for big wins. Wouldn't mind to see Hagen win either.

A Trentin win would be delightful and fully deserved considering the tremendous work he puts in year round.

I felt disappointed by recent editions, but it still feels exciting when the day is there. I really hope something will happen on the Cipressa this year.

Right now we need rain and 30 mph winds.

Why are you guys listing Valverde? He never does anything here.
Think Lobato, he can do something (and has before)

Well, he's only ridden it once since 2006, so it's hard to say he "never does anything".

For me the big wave of tension building up feels more like big boredom building up because the climbs just don't want to start. I haven't seen this race that often but in the years in which I did I really didnt like it and actually just watched it because its known as an important race and everyone will still talk about it in the coming months.

I look at San Remo as an historical race that provided some of the most beautiful exploits to some of the biggest champions of the past like Coppi, Fignon, Merckx or Kelly. The teams know it and ride accordingly, no one wants to look bad today. It's just not the same as riding 300km somewhere else, at least for me.
