God damn it. Ballsy from Kwiatkowski. Lacked a bit of power on Poggio, but I think if Cancellara didn't accelerate and brought him back, Michal would have won his first monument :/
No way, the biggest gap he had was 5 seconds. That would have been swallowed up easily in a sprint.

Yeah, same as in Ponferrada.....
The group behind him wouldn't cooperate together if he still had 4-5 second gap in last km
Lol, completely different situation. The group behind was big today and most contenders had team-mates with them. No chance he would have stayed away.

It was a valiant effort, but he didn't create enough of a gap on the descent.

poor sagan? he should go 100m earlier that incident and not waiting he was totally useless today, did not tried anything just waited for others, he lost his chance 500 to go I suppose he did not have legs today

That's what everyone says he should be doing when he doesn't win

Demare on great form early season but Swifty chapeau. Gaviria probably showing tiredness after 6 hours in the saddle.

Tiredness?!?!?!

He didn't lie down on the road to have a nap, he crashed at a point when he was absolutely cruising.

Bouhanni also unlucky. Was going to win for sure before the mechanical.

Well I think that he didn't want to repeat recent mistakes and take too much initiative, but on the contrary try to conserve more energy for a win.

What happened to Bouhanni at the end. Did he give up or have a gear problem? Worst possible winner for me. :(

First French monument win in over 18 years and the most overrated French rider is the one who does it.

I like how Cancellara uses his attack to bring back the peloton rather than trying to win

What else is he supposed to do? He's tried every play in the book to win this race again other than going in an early breakaway.

And wtf Valverde. Just why? Why starting in this race if you really just following wheels and do absolutely nothing!

Why?

Actually Swift was behind Matthews on the Poggio and was caught up in a minor crash with about 7km to go so both he and Démare put in pretty special rides.

Gaviria, Gaviria, Gaviria..... :( :(

Despite that - It was very, very exciting race on the last 10K - so please to watch a FRENCH rider finally winning a monument- Demare truly deserved it.

Gear problem. If you watch the finale again you can see him jolt as he tries to accelerate and then he looks down at his gears twice as the others start to come past him

just saw the finish again. you can clearly see that bouhanni has some kind of mechanical a bit after starting the sprint.
