Those pictures are useless. On the second picture (23.5 km to go) he is behind race director's, technical support and doctor's car, then BMC, SKY, Tinkoff car, and Astana car just in front of him. So at that moment he would have already taken the tow from FDJ car. And they would be stupid if they towed him so close to the front due to risk of heli images.

Edit: although, there is a Tinkoff rider right in front of him and if that is Tossato, he would have to see it right at that time.

If it was only Cofidis spreading the rumour it would be one thing, but Capecchi and Tosatto have no reason to spread the rumour, they aren't know as smacktalkers and Tosatto is a veteran who has seen it all, he's not the kind of guy who'd invent such a story to get his 5min of fame.

TBH it's not that rare for a guy playing catch-up to ride faster than the peloton, especially when there's still about an hour of racing to go

Not the peloton...Visconti who attacked and went away on the Cipressa
Plus Visconti is a climber... Demare is not
But Demare could beat Visconti on the Cipressa and then have enough to win the race ???


As for the picture that is as the riders enter Imperia ....and there are no cars with the chasers except 2 ...79 & one other ...Later on the cipressa with 2 FDJ riders waiting at the back there is still no sign of Demare

So his Strava file was actually uploaded for a very short time before he deleted it. Why am I not surprised he went up Cipressa 10 seconds faster than anyone else during the race.

So to add to the sketchiness, Mr Demare quickly deleted his Strava file with a big fat Cipressa KOM after stories came out of him hanging onto cars. What a joke.

There has to be footage, between cars dash cams, roadside tifosi, et caetera. If he did cheat, he should get DQed. I don't like the "not seen, not caught" outcome if it stands like this with inconclusive evidence. Now, the two saw something, it's obvious. What was it? I don't believe the 80 km/h thing, that's exaggerated. What was it? A sticky bottle wouldn't bother me much. After a crash, they all do it, that or drafting behind cars. Holding onto the car is different...

I remember seeing Swift having his wheel clipped by someone badly cornering on the Poggio with around 7-10km to go. At that point he was at the back of the peloton and possibly behind Matthews.

Completely separate incident, and it wasn;t really the back of Peloton then though, more of a split on descent
