Sagan just has too many lows during a race this year. He's not on the same level as last year.

He was really strong in the beginning of the season, but his form gets worse and worse really

Yeah his puncture and solo across a 20 second gap had nothing to do with it

Doesn't matter. He totally exploded on Carrefour. While Naesen, who had even more bad luck, was able to come back and put the pressure on the others on that sector.

He just isn't as strong as last year.

Well I don't know what to tell you if you are seriously comparing them after the work they both did this race

You just haven't seen the race really

Good on GVA, he's having a golden year. The amount of crashes and mechanicals seemed harsh this year. Not my favorite edition, but much respect to the riders.
Agree with this. I think the race undoubtedly was won by the strongest rider in the end, but it seemed a bit of a messy edition overall.

Sagan just gave up after the second puncture. He was tremendously unlucky in having punctured right after his attacks

Stybar is the cobbled version of Gerrans?
Nah. He showed his face in the wind several times even if he sat on for awhile. He also attacked several times.

?? GvA had a legitimate reason to be mad at him. Maybe Stybar was under orders to soft-pedal for Boonen? No one will want to work with him in future races if there isn't some excuse for racing like that.

Strange race. Did not have the feeling like anyone could really drop anyone on the cobbles. It's that GVA, Langeveld and Stybar got away on the asphalt that made the decision. They in turn were stronger than the others they were with on the carrefour.

I'm glad GVA won. Stybar wheelsucking as always didn't deserve ***. Super happy Langeveld got 3rd, I was afraid it was thrown away when Moscon and Stuyven returned.

Disappointing that Langeveld didn't try a counter attack when GVA caught Stybar.

It was pretty obvious Langeveld was happy with podium. Besides he had nothing left in the tank to counter.

And if he would have pokered then Moscon and Stuyven would have returned earlier, and they are also faster than Langeveld when rested..
So then he would have nothing (yeah, 5th place).

Langeveld did what he had to to achieve the maximum possible result in this case. Yeah, he could have pokered for more, and then most likely would have finished 5th.

Just this week I was looking up Langeveld's results since 2011 and I was like "boy, he regressed a lot". So I was surprised to see him come third.

I agree. I was mad at him as well. I'm just saying Stybar certainly isn't a Gerrans.

Yeah, i have to agree, the timing of his punctures was really, really hard on him. The first move he did was absolutely the right tactic imo as well; personally I doubt that it would have stuck until the finish, but it made sense to use a team-mate to do something useful while he was still there, and also to pressure other riders who had relatively recently had to chase back on. Looks like he's trying to do something before getting played in the final 10km or the sprint, which is a step in the right direction. The second attack I'm not so sure about, seemed strange timing to try to cross a relatively big gap - especially when he could have leaned on Quickstep to chase a bit at the time.

But he made it and it wound up being the winning move.

it was the move that sticked untill the finish so in retrospect the 2nd one was well done aswell
