Where are you from?
Portugal

Who's your favourite cyclist?
Mathieu van der Poel from active riders. From past riders, Igor Antón and Riccardo Riccó.

Your favourite moment in cycling history?
I can't put one above the others. From the past years the ones who stand in my mind the most are Amstel 2019 (where I fell asleep after I thought MVDP had lost the race to the Fuglsang and Alaphilippe attack, only to wake up under 10 km to go and go berserk with the last minutes of the race).
I also remember fondly Angliru in Vuelta 2017. Never was a fan of Alberto and even was rooting against him during the Contador vs. Schleck years, but that day was magical. It was like a retrospective of a cycling career on the last mountain day of his professional life, aided by fellow riders and friends in a last mountain raid.
And I almost had another favorite moment in Yorkshire 2019, only to go with apathy when I see MVDP with one of the biggest bonks I've ever seen in procycling, when I was almost sure the rainbow jersey was in the bag if the group reached the final together.

What's wrong with cycling at the moment?
Shifting away from long and hard mountain stages to unipuertos and stages that don't feature more than 2 hard mountain passes by design (talking to you Tour). Concentration of talents in big teams who area couple of levels above the middle tier teams.

What makes cycling better than other sports (to watch)?
Different landscapes and range of different outcomes that are possible.

What is the best stage or race design of all times?
Giro 2015 - For me it's the GT I enjoyed the most. It had a lot of everything. Long TTs, hard mountain stages, tricky hilly stages. And the fight between the top-3 was amazing, although the depth of the rest of the field wasn't as good. Would like to see a TDF level peloton ride that parcours.

Which other sports do you watch the most?
Motorsports.

Have you ever raced competitively yourself?
No.

How do you feel about women's cycling?
Try to follow the biggest road races, although the domination of the Netherlands as a country and of SDWork as a team is not very enjoyable to me. It gladly seems to be changing as more teams and countries invest more in the sport.
Try to watch as CX and XC as possible as the races are frequently more entertaining than the men's.

You are writing a novel set in pro cycling – what's your plot?
-

TT or hard climbs?
Hard climbs.

If you could rent a current pro rider for one day to help you improve your cycling, who would you choose and what should they show you?
MVDP. How to ride technical features in CX and XC at speed since that's one part of my riding I can't seem to improve.

Portugal

Vingegaard + van der poel. I can't decide between the two.

When Armstrong gave a compliment to Chavanel on Luz ardiden.

Everything is wrong when my favourite rider loses to someone in the races.
Now, seriously, clinical issues. Cycling is entering in a dangerous path.

Cycling is better than the other sports, because the riders are more tough and humble. There is also some beauty and aura, in the mountain stages.

Tour France 2022

Football, basketball.

No.

I don't watch women's cycling, but i respect them.

Vingegaard destroying again Pogacar next year on Ventoux and Finestre, taking back the Tour again.

Hard climbs.

Van der poel. He is got good skills.

Where are you from? My mom and dad.

Who's your favourite cyclist? A common answer I'm sure but it has to be Eddy Merckx, but there are others.

Your favourite moment in cycling history? 1964 TDF stage 20

What's wrong with cycling at the moment? Far too much overindulgence in technology that is increasing prices far too much, and much of it is extremely over exaggerated but cost a lot for very tiny imperceivable benefits.

What makes cycling better than other sports (to watch)? It doesn't, watching any sport on TV is hugely boring these days, made worse by the modern trend of babbling morons called sportscasters and commentators.

What is the best stage or race design of all times? You didn't specify road or MTBing, so I would go with the Iron Bike Race, and the stage they call the Queen Stage.

Which other sports do you watch the most? None due to the boredom explained in another response.

Have you ever raced competitively yourself? Yes

How do you feel about women's cycling? Same as I do about men's cycling.

You are writing a novel set in pro cycling – what's your plot? I'm not a writer so I can't answer that.

TT or hard climbs? How is this question being asked? It's too vague.

If you could rent a current pro rider for one day to help you improve your cycling, who would you choose and what should they show you? Probably Bradley Wiggins, he was an expert at TT and at climbing and could teach me how to improve my riding abilities.

Where are you from?
Born and raised in Sweden with a norwegian mother.

Who's your favourite cyclist?

Through the years: Escartin, Hushovd, Bäckstedt, Cipollini, Botero, Löfkvist, Boasson Hagen, Girmay, Nordhagen,

Your favourite moment in cycling history?

I missed Bäckstedt winning Roubaix so on the bike it's probably Hushovd winning Worlds. But the greatest moment of all time which made me genuinely gleeful the whole day was seeing Armstrong interviewed by Oprah.

What's wrong with cycling at the moment?

The dominant riders are too dominant. I don't want races like Strade Bianche to be over when it's 70km left of the race.

What makes cycling better than other sports (to watch)?

It lends itself to great moments of both tactics, team work and individual feats of brilliance but in the end it all comes down having the legs or not and just holding on for dear life at times when on the rope.

What is the best stage or race design of all times?

Paris - Roubaix, Passage Du Gois, Alpe d'Huez, Mont Ventoux.

Which other sports do you watch the most?

Football, skiing

Have you ever raced competitively yourself?

No, only played Rugby and Bowling as organized sports. I did play an U-19 test match for Sweden in Rugby.

How do you feel about women's cycling?

Don't follow it too closely but can be fun at times at Worlds or Olympics.

You are writing a novel set in pro cycling – what's your plot?

The story of Jean Nüttli, the Swiss overweight guy who lost a lot of weight by riding on a trainer and it ended up leading to him becoming a pro cyclist at age 27 where he rode for Phonak and Saint-Quentin - Oktos and ended up winning 5 pro races.

TT or hard climbs?

Hard climbs, lots of attacks, riders cracking and fighting their way back etc.

If you could rent a current pro rider for one day to help you improve your cycling, who would you choose and what should they show you?

Waste of money.

So the last three favorite cycling moments on here are Armstrong complimenting Chavanel on Luz Ardiden, Stage 20 of the 1964 TdF and Armstrong being interviewed by Oprah. Cycling fans are weird.

It might also say something about the ages of people on here. Either you survived the Anquetil/Merckx/Hinault eras or the Armstrong years.

I think we'd all be interested in reading your answers, too. Also @Ilmaestro99's, so we can finally get disclosed which planet he is from.

Where are you from? USA NYC via Georgia (the US version) and Indiana + Canada BC

Who's your favourite cyclist? Pogi! MVP is a pleasure to watch race too.

Your favourite moment in cycling history? Lemond's stunning TdF win. Lance Armstrong 1999 staging an improbable/impossible comeback. That post crack long range attach by Floyd Landis was something else. Pogi winning Flanders. Pogi defeating Roglic for his first tour win.

What's wrong with cycling at the moment? ASO has a little too much power

What makes cycling better than other sports (to watch)? Sports are all different. I enjoy bike racing for it's own virtues. Insanely demanding cardio sport.

What is the best stage or race design of all times? I don't actually pay a lot of attention to parcours, or at least remember them. you have all of the usual suspects in cycling such as Alp d huez, etc. In recency bias, I really enjoyed WCRR in Glasgow last year. Very surprisingly good race.

Which other sports do you watch the most? I did watch a lot of amateur wrestling. It is a sport I personally did as a youth and young adult. Still do at the World Championship level. I do like collegiate US football but am disillusioned at the state of the sport now because of lack of post season participation by the athletes. And NHL hockey.

Have you ever raced competitively yourself? no. I did not grow up around the opportunity. Probably would have been quite bad at it.

How do you feel about women's cycling? It is a solidly growing sport that is gaining a following. I do not watch it. Just don't have time to invest in the sport.

You are writing a novel set in pro cycling – what's your plot? It stars Oumi! But cycling needs an anti-hero, so looking for someone who stands out a little more for brash behavior. Maybe even someone with a big lead who self-cracks and feigns indignity. A peloton saboteur. Maybe a Dennis Rodman colorful character. Maybe the Schlecks but more of a Hanson brothers vibe from the movie Slapshot. Not just a novel, but I actually want to see these things in real life.

TT or hard climbs? Hard climbs with decisive GC action all day long.

If you could rent a current pro rider for one day to help you improve your cycling, who would you choose and what should they show you? I have too much self respect to put a pro through that. Even in pretend fantasy world lol. I just watch cycling and talk smack here. Sorry to you all in advance for this disappointment!

Where are you from? Ireland

Who's your favourite cyclist? For a long time it was Nibali..something about the drama and the vodoo and the uncertainty plus the fab wins... Now I cant say I have a favourite but quite like Ben Healy, Mohoric, Campernants, Pello, Bardet and Landa , mostly because they are unpredictable and bring drama and I like the underdog who really tries

Your favourite moment in cycling history? Matt Hayman at Paris Roubaix was good as was Pog wins on LPBF in 2020 Tour Mohoric;s win at MSR and of course Nibali's win at MSR

What makes cycling better than other sports (to watch)? Cycling is like life . Hours waiting around and nothing happens and then all of a sudden some controversial drama that no one can agree on , where people talk for days and weeks about and fill pages and pages with arguments about one aspect or another. Even when its boring , no one knows when it will all kick off and of course there is the unpredictability (well there was) of the racing, the highs and lows and that is just among the fans. Its a complex sport that you cant really ever figure out and it is so much the better for that.

What's wrong with cycling at the moment? Some teams are too rich and others have to scrape around for money. It makes for uneven competition in races esp in GTs

What is the best stage or race design of all times? I dont think the course design makes the race, its how hard its raced. However I have liked many Vuelta stages over the last 10 years or so

Which other sports do you watch the most? I watch GAA , football and occasionally other big events like Wimbledon or Ryders Cup

Have you ever raced competitively yourself? No.

How do you feel about women's cycling? I dont watch it ...mostly its a time issue. I think about not watching mens cycling so much but then I am drawn back in

You are writing a novel set in pro cycling – what's your plot? Science Fiction , where aliens capture Carlton Kirby and Adam Blythe to probe for signs of human intelligence. It would be called "I'll be bound" Rob Hatches role would be to communicate with the aliens in their dialect

TT or hard climbs? Hard climbs always...esp in a GT

If you could rent a current pro rider for one day to help you improve your cycling, who would you choose and what should they show you? Well I would need alot of instruction but would be happy chilling with Tim Wellens and Thomas de Gendt in a campervan by a Belgian river on a wet day
