Having set the fastest split, it had begun to rain, so he sat up and rode off to the hotel, on the final bend of the course.

I was disappointed, especially by Farrar. In such a GC position, it just shows a lack of character to simply stop competing altogether. One day they talk about him perhaps winning the race and the next he just quits.
