Mark Cavendish has said that he is going to be in New Delhi unless he crashes and injures himself at Geelong. And if he is racing I don't think anybody else can win the race. The course is flat. Wide Roads just a few roundabouts and the heat to worry about. Cavendish if in the race should be a very good bet for the win.

Ah ok, last I heard he was't racing.

Seems it will be Renshaw vs Cavendish in the sprint! I imagine Cavendish should take that, though I guess if anyone knows any possible weaknesses, it would be Renshaw! Doesn't mean he can beat him though!

Very hard choice to pull out of Comm Games Team but have to look to the future now.I Could not take the risk with health after EBV this yr.

To be honest at the rate people are dropping out I should have entered. Would have an outside chance of a medal ;)

:D Who is going is the big question, not who isn't going!

i think Dinesh Prabavagarnesh is going to pull this one off

Say his name repeatedly!

Honestly, why would you go to an event like this?

Does Cav ride for the Manx?

Yes.

The track programme is potentially of better quality than the next Olympics but I'm not sure I'm particulary bothered.

Chris Froome is supposedly riding for England in the road race so good luck to him,Downing seems too have pulled out and I've know idea who else is riding for them.

Jonathon Bellis used to ride with Saxobank. He's a Manxman.

Jonny isn't riding as he was due to have another operation for a hernia high in his stomach lining which is a result of last years accident. He's either waiting for the op or is now recuperating.

Surely, this was the true focus of Cav's year. All that stuff about the Maillot Vert and Geelong was just smoke and mirrors. He went to Australia and pulled out early to keep his powder dry for Delhi, wrong footing a load of the Aussies who cycled the whole way to the end.

Seriously though, nice to see someone show a bit of "national" pride and disregard for tales of tabloid woe even if we seem to have agreed he is racing for a Crown Protectorate rather than a nation!!!!:p;):D

Bobridge just beats Jesse Sergent in the final with a high 4:17. Hepburn lapped Bewley to take Bronze, Hepburn was actually on a good time too, would have been a PB.

Australia 3/3 on Day One.

Hepburn was always chasing the lap though I think. He would have died. Especially going out so fast when you're a 2nd (or still 1st?) year senior.

Yeh I looked back at the splits, high 1:02s for the 2nd and 3rd km, he probably would've blown. I still think it's his most impressive performance yet. All these guys need to keep improving if we are to beat GB/NZ in the TP over the next few years.

Yeah Hepburn was looking strong. Bobridge only just held on which was odd. I was expecting a fast time especially after his ride in qualifying. I think Australia is well on the way to beat GB and NZ in the pursuit. With bobridge, hepburn, dennis and a few other guys looking good, I think we will knock them off. Team pursuit is always one of the most exciting events in the olympics especially with the high level of competition and rivalry.

Outstanding by Meyer, but lapping them three times was a bit greedy ;) Honourable mention for young George Atkins picking up a good silver.

Anyone know why Perkins was DQ'd in the keirin? Awang's DQ from the final was harsh also.
