Outstanding by Meyer, but lapping them three times was a bit greedy ;) Honourable mention for young George Atkins picking up a good silver.

Anyone know why Perkins was DQ'd in the keirin? Awang's DQ from the final was harsh also.

He probably caused the crash which saw the South African and Edgar go down?

I think he didn't give any room to the Malaysians which eventually squeezed everyone and caused the crash. But it was probably just as soft as the decision in the final.

meyer= unbelievable.

awang did deserve to get DQ'd. It wasn't the wheel thing that got him DQ'd as that is what liggett told us initially as he actually did the same thing as Perkins. I tipped Ng to win so I was happy to be right!:D

Meyer is nowhere like the rider O'Grady is. For starters, he's a great climber.

They are two different types of riders. Meyer has a huge future, but you can't compare him to O'Grady as the pedigree is different.

Because no one cares about the track forum, no one really cares about the road race, and we are only really talking about road Professionals like Bewley, Bobridge, Meyer and Sergent.

I think NZ are a great chance in the TP, qualifying is on now.

Wow, NZ tried to go out hard and put the pressure on, only to fall to pieces after 3km :rolleyes:

Cam Meyer replaced Freiburg for the final, Australia went 3:55.4 which is better than their Worlds time, I reckon the winner in London will break 3:50.

The question is who is Australia's four, Bobridge is a lock, I think in two years time Parker will also be a lock. That leaves a bunch of riders fighting for two spots - Dennis, Hepburn, C. Meyer, Howard, Dubridge amongst others.

Does anyone know the start times for the road races & timetrials. I gather the mens road race is on 10th October, and womens and timetrials on 13th, but haven't been able to find anything more detailed.

Cheers.

Edit: it seems the women's road race is also on the 10th.

They would of gone much faster if they hadn't had to go around the slow kiwis in the last lap which split the team up.

I guess track cycling doesn't cut it with the general public. I'm watching Sky News this morning when they announce that Australia has won 4 golds in the cycling overnight. And what are they showing as they announce this? Swimming.....heats!!

As a roadie it makes me sick the amount of cycling funding that goes into track in New Zealand. Bike NZ do virtually nothing to promote grass roots club racing in NZ but throw money around like jellybeans when it comes to track cycling. I realise that government funding is allocated with regards to medal success and that track has a far higher potential medal haul than road but it is a sad state when the national U19 road team team have to individually fund not only their own trip fares to international events but also pay for the Bike NZ entourage as well.

watching the track cycling at the games has been a joke. Take the mens team pursuit...Aussie qualified at 4minutes, NZ at 4.03 and in bronze medal position, Northern Ireland at 4.23! Despite that they still lapped India after 2km in the bronze ride off, all to the rapturous applause of the two spectators present (if you take out riders families). With a few exceptions the whole track programme has been an Aussie vs New Zealand benefit with Australia handing us our *** on a plate in every race. Great to see all that funding bearing dividends:rolleyes:
