He's the national TT champ, and even if I take his results from last year and from Tachíra this year out of the equation:

Those are mountain time trials, so it's normal his good results. Also, there isn't a tough competition to be time trial champion of Venezuela.

When it comes to flat time-trials, Rujano is discrete but not bad.

rujano is pretty good flat timetrailist. he came in 14th at the 2nd itt in giro 2005. 2nd in langkawi timetrail and if it wasn't for 3 bike changes in the first giro 2005 time trial he would've done top ten also top ten in muricia 2007 itt not to mention his timetrial results in south america. he's very good timetrialist for his size because he has so much power and good aerodynamic position on his itt bike.

Gesink had 7,3. They do go over 7 with some riders. Rujano got these results when he came to quickstep they tested him. They couldn't believe the results either and tested him a little while later again with nearly same result.

savio said in an interview in 2009 he never saw anything as talented as rujano was, not even close. and felt ashamed he was lured in for money by his manager. his manager is now gone and rujano is a changed man since 2009, his best season ever

Maybe he won't change the selection. Last time he booted the "weakest" team, for a Contador led Astana.
A Rujano led ISD doesn't have quite the same ring.........but they are stronger on paper than a few selections.
IMO, this time, he'll leave them in the cold and Rujano will jump aboard somebody else's Giro ship.

the guy is 162 and 49 kg. so in total watts no where near a cancellara or boonen. so in flat he won't be as good as them of course. but when it goes uphill it's all about gravity and the watt per kg is what counts that's why he's the most perfect climber in theory. and imo also in reality because what he did last year in vuelta colombia was the most impressive thing I've seen since landis

Did you watch the race or have the race highlights on DVD? On the final stage where he was on the way to his stage win, Paul Sherwin was certain he was going to be a 'future star of the sport and that teams would be throwing themselves at Rujano'. It was a bit hyperbolic in hindsight, but from what I understand, and I could be wrong, is that Rujano was very badly advised by people who knew nothing about cycling.
