You're right, Greenedge have had a disasterous season so far, I mean not even winning the Bay Crits or Aussie Nat Crit Champs, disgraceful, what a terrible advert for Australian cycling, they ought to be ashamed of themselves.

Or.

It's Jan 5th, and no-one cares about Aussie crits. Except ACF.

I think Greenedge do, after all they had about 10 riders participating in them.

I must've missed the press release where they said the Bay Crits were an important must-win objective.

Nothing to do with Nat TT/RR or TDU prep?

Jeez, of course it's prep, but that doesn't mean you don't want to win. Even if the mighty Anthony Giacoppo is participating.

Getting beaten five times in a row by the likes of Giacoppo and a talented 17-year old kid IS quite a bad start into the season for a team with such ambitions. At the Bay Classic GreenEdge had two teams at the start with sprint aces as Goss, Howard, McEwen, Davis, Cooke included. And they haven't won a single sprint throughout the week. Goss was a total disaster, McEwen and Cooke were practically invisible. Davis lost every sprint and ended up as overall winner due to consistency, not brilliance, with a tiny one-point-margin to a junior rider.

Now that's what I call a really bad start.

It will be interesting to see how Laws gets on in some decent European road races this year. He seems to have considerable talent.

Lol at the trolling.

Giacoppo is awesome at the crits btw. Took a back seat last year because of the success of others at Genesys but was already stated as having more focus on him this year. Clearly it's already paying off. Anyway I don't think any of the actual Aussie pros (including GE) will be that focused on winning any crits, most aren't going to be that focused on the NC as well. Also Bay Crits does not equal the local domestic scene and 2 riders competing in the crit champs and they're expected to win it? :D

Thanks. I was sure he had signed for a non-Domestic team but I couldn't figure at who. You reminded me. :D

I'm nothing if not predictable!

I'm presuming that Laws will have a relatively limited European campaign this year because of his track commitments. I read an interview with him where he said something about An Post understanding that when they signed him. Still, he should be able to make an impact, given his track pedigree.

If GreenEdge had won one or two of those five races we would still be hearing about it now, I'm pretty sure they would have cared then.

Surely there has to be some cause for concern, especially they way they got beaten?

1.Henderson smashed there main sprinter in a 300-400m horsepower race leading out of a near standing start and they couldn't get around him. What's going to happen when they need to come around the gorilla as well?

2&4. Schooled in positioning and acceleration by a school boy.

3&5. Beaten by a bike shop mechanic.

;)

Nice win, but why has he Saxo Bank gloves and socks on, hope he will sign some day for Bjarne Riis and Saxo-Bank. He´s talent and young, he fast in a sprint. GOOD SIGNS :)

They are NSWIS gloves and socks, they just look similar to old Saxo Bank gear.

The funny thing is that if GE had won all five races so far, people would be saying how insignificant the races are (which is true).

Giacoppo was allowed to win by Durbridge ( though he still would have won the sprint ). McEwan was sick at the Nats. And it's not as if they prepared for the races like Bay Crits. It's a warm-up in race conditions that will see them have a good start in the WT.

It isn't possible to think that maybe those crits didn't go perfectly for them, the new national team wanting to make an impression on home ground, and not be assigned to the "Greenedge absolutely blow" camp? Okay, I'll remember that for next time.

It is a bit disrespectful to Ewan and Giacuppo, they could well have beaten most riders in the world in these races....we will never know but we do know that Ewan especially, beat some pretty handy professional sprinters from GreenEdge and from other teams, blokes like Haussler, Henderson, Haas and Sutton aren't slouches. Give the kid credit for a pretty amazing performance. I only went to the race at Willy but from that race it was clear that GE who did 90% of the work were out to get rid of as many riders as possible by having the speed on for the whole race. Congrats to the two young fellas for hanging in there and doing so well.
Just on Goss, I am sure he has bigger goals in mind but he seemed to have mechanical problems at Willy and spent a few laps off the back (late in the race) trying to sort out some sort of gear or brake problem. Was never going to get back on to the bunch on that short course.

Of course they didn't go "perfectly" for them but sfw? Since when do races always go perfectly especially a bunch of short, fast-paced crits that aren't fixed? If a GE rider had won you'd still see the same reports from CN and velonation etc, there'd just be a media release from GE on their site as well, hardly shoving it down their faces. The fact that in the Nat Crit Champs they had 2 old farts clearly show how important they think getting a criterium jersey is in their list of priorities.

Anyway, we'll see if you're right, they've just gotten the Women's Nats so lets await the GREENEDGE ARE AWESOME statements soon!

On an off-note it seems Dennis is back with Jayco-AIS from RaboConti

Apparently they controlled these crits to death, but oh well, they didn't care anyhow

Nice win for Dennis, seemed to be all but faded from the earth while on Rabo Conti.

Dennis spending two more years in the U23s than originally planned for could be a blessing in disguise. Hopefully he gets a go somewhere other than GreenEdge for 2013.

On SBS tomorrow. Bound to be someone who uploads it to a torrent after but I doubt there'll be a livestream unless there's someone on TVU that does SBS.

I wonder if they have fixed their temperamental livestream? I'll try it for a while otherwise it could be a three hour wait for the delay
