As a 21 year old with no previous form or results in a one day classic that could compare to this, he shouldn't be considered a favourite. He's only just raced his first GT and it was great to see him win there but then he was sprinting against the likes of Bennati and Haedo, which is absolutely no comparison to the field is he up against today. He is up against the elite sprinters of today's peloton AND the elite classic riders, all who are older, have more mature bodies and all who have better endurance than him.
In a few years time he's likely to make Gilbert's palmares look second rate but today is not for him.
