average speed after two hours in the alpes:43,1 km/h!!!

no stream for at least an hour i guess.this will be purito's day, katusha will work, the breakaway is doomed.

Agreed. The break needs to have some 5 minutes plus to have any real chance of staying away. Sparks will fly on the Grand Cucheron and the final of the Allevarde. I don't expect any TV until last climb.

Grand Cucheron the last 7.3km are at an average of 7.85% the first two are at 8.1%, but the middle section km 2 - 9 is nothing, only 135m gained.

I wouldn't mind seeing the break survive, but would prefer the pace is high here to soften the legs in the bunch.

what do you mean mountain men?? these guys are no were near even subtop climbers. perhaps morabito but he's more inconsistant than the belgian press

indeed.

Come july their team will be outclassed in the mountains.

Gesink went in the break? Waste much energy?
A shame, was hoping he would try to measure himself against the others today (I didn't think he would win, but at least we would know where he is in terms of prep.)

They're at 2.30. About have of what I figure is needed for a chance. They are having an effect. The speed will be what you want. :D

It didn't survive overly long so I doubt he would of wasted much energy.

I thought it would have blown out to over 5 minutes, but it's stayed 2-2.5 (which can only mean the peloton hasn't switched off too much). Let's see how they go on the descent...

Like I said, I don't know if he's really interested in comparing himself to the others, rather he compares himself to his own maximum numbers.

Although I must say I care less and less. This is more boring than Andy Schleck :)

I hope the break doesnt get away as it will be kinda boring, I rather see them duel for the stage win on the final climb. whats the gap to the break?

Sorry! :p

I hope they ride at a decent pace so I can get to bed early as possible.

Supposedly there is quite a few fans out today on the final climb

Just 85 kms left. Make that another very early finish, say 17-10CET.
That's only 50 minutes earlier than expected.

We had a super fast Giro. My mind boggles at the prospect of Le Tour average speeds.
Of course, everything is squeaky clean nowadays.
