I understand that, however it seems like you do not - want to - understand me.
There is a reason for the majority of comments in Martin's direction as opposed to Gesink. It's mostly because of a particular poster who's been over-hyping Martin and his chances at the Dauphine and the Tour.

I've understood this, but it's too early to say that Martin will do bad at the tour...otherwise we should say the same for Gesink... or not?

People are conflating TeoSheva and Bavarianrider. TeoSheva hasn't been making outlandish claims for Martin.

No one is conflating anyone to Bavarian. It was teasing at most.

Mate, a little reading comprehension goes a long way.
I never said Martin will do bad at the Tour, just not as good as Bavarian tends to suggest.
The people who were annoyed at the outlandish claims made by this character jumped at the first chance they got to ''put'' him in his place. Get it?

Can anyone explain why exactly he never won a race before now? If you'd only ever watched him today, you'd never imagine that he'd been kicking around for years without a win.

He just lacks that little extra on a few terrains to win. No sprint, not explosive and no acceleration. A tempo climber pur sang. It's that simple.

And of course the fact his entire season is built around the Tour. He doesn't give a stuff about races like P-N.

i know what you wrote. i am just taking things a step further.

you are saying he can climb and as prof you are giving us results like the finish at the mighty HC climb that is the alto do malhão. . . .

you see what i mean?

It's a quite steep climb: Hesjedal, Poels, Sanchez were dropped... It's not the Mortirolo, but it's not flat...

btw, don't go too further because I will never say that he will win the tour, or that he's better than Contador.;)

Lol. Please tell me you're joking. There are enough fanboys infesting this forum as it is.

You can be a good fanboy without rubbing it in someone's face when he wins and his "mortal enemy" performs bad :p

You don't see me bad mouthing Gesink here for instance :p

martin can have a great tour if he doesn't lose time on the first stage and then HTC wins the TTT and lets him cross the line first(i doubt velits will be losing time on the first stage either) so may have a few days of yellow pulling cav around for the sprints and stuff. then he can save himself and give it all on the itt so he can try and also win a stage by himself. that would be a great tour for martin. and something i can see happening.

if martin were to achieve that while finishing down on GC(outside the top 20) i would see that as a great tour for martin while bavarianrider would say it was a bad tour because he didn't finish on the top 10 like he should (according to bavarianrider ofc)

see no1 is saying martin will have a bad tour. all people are saying is that he will have a bad tour if we take into account bavarianrider's predictions.

Well at least you try really hard not to bad mouth him. We'll see how long that lasts. ;)
I agree though, however, it's harder than one might think. Being a ''good'' fanboy requires a lot of dedication and self-control. :p

I really don't hate Gesink :p

Though I sometimes do get tired of all the excuses around him :D

Besides I'm still convinced Gesink will finish in front of him this Tour, but I wouldn't be surprised at all if it didn't happen.

About why his climbing sucked then, or why he did bad at said Tour, or why he peaked too early, or why the performance of his closest rival(still think that is VDB, but feel free to disagree) doesn't mean much because the competition was weak there, etc

When's the Pinot Bandwagon departing?

i heard its almost departed a couple hours ago but then it was delayed due to hurricane martin hitting the area. but from the looks of it hurricane martin is leaving and good weather is coming so the pinot wagon is ready to departure.

anyway who is this kid? being 21 he still is very young. is he the next in line to be crushed by the french media crushing machine?

I see. Completely agree to be honest. There's always something for someone if they underperformed. Albeit there might be some truths in them, it shouldn't be used as an argument to belittle someone else's performance.
Personally, I wouldn't be surprised if Jurgen finished above Gesink again this year even though I voted for Gesink due to his growth potential and apparent improvement in his ITT. We are resorted to waiting and seeing.

If Rodriguez could pull that move from the break rather than the bunch, he could have stage wins. Doesn't matter much if he can win the GC though.

oh yeah that's what i call an impressive win.this wasn't about timing the attack nicely, that's wrong,he timed it pretty bad it was just he was the strongest today.he went full gas doing more than 30 kmph the last five km i guess.perfect for the first stage win of his career at pros.so chapeau jurgen!
anyway i didn't expect the favourites to go that hard and fast already.they all pretty much look ready to storm le tour.basso will be ok too,he's gonna fly in july that's no problem.

let's get ready for july!!!
ALLEZ VINO!!!
