That is not so. I just double checked. Everyone is eligible, no matter where you live.

Susan

Thanks Susan the terms and conditions seem to indicate otherwise but that is nice to know.

Well over half my answers I had no clue who or what I was voting for. I did go for the 140x12 dropout it sounds impressive. probably mtb downhill?
and I voted for a female with a nice Polish looking name in some category.

Same here. I've only got a reasonable clue about road cycling. If I was unsure, I voted for the first in the category, but I did vote for Maja Wloszczowska since I know she's very good and a couple of my friends know her.

Edit: Bertie not being there is a real joke. Still would have voted for that Belgian geezer though.

I get a Firefox message saying the site is untrustworthy.
Judging from the poll options, I'd have to agree.
Seriously, if the poll is US/UK centric biased, why bother?
Voting sensibly just adds credence to the inevitable outcomes.
I've never entered and won't, until it becomes a fair representation
of the season's high points.
Leave it for the 3 week........sorry, that should now read 4 week, fans.

2 week. The Tour was only a week long this year.

Hey all,

A note on Contador: We didn't include him in last year's poll due to his positive test from the 2010 Tour and subsequent case. Although he has been cleared to race until the CAS hearing decides his final fate in November, we felt that the outcome was still unclear and therefore we've be consistent in our approach from last year.

On the topic of mandatory fields. I'll take that on board and consider changing the approach for next season.

Thanks

Dan

That doesn't make much sense considering that Contador gets to keep his 2011 results regardless of the outcome of the CAS hearing in November.

Why is there no longer a best photo category? That was the best one. I got to see the best photos I missed through the year.

We had huge problems with the data download from that one question for the past two years. However we will bring you a highlights feature of best images at the end of the year.

Fair enough. I look forward to the review.

Figure we can do our own Forum "Best Image" competition, if its not already done?

I was thinking we should do a Forum "Best ____" competition anyway, as the results should be more interesting and we'd have different categories CN would never have on their site anyway, which would suit us better.

Also, while the explanation for excluding Contador, works, I guess, it is clearly cycling news taking a side in the matter.

No major organisation has taken this position. They all say Contador is innocent until proven guilty, and take the view that Contador was a rider this season.

Seeing as how it would be impossible for a rider to have the season Contador had and not make the top 9 riders of the season, by not including Contador, Cycling news is clearly showing where they stand on the issue, and what they hope from the outcome of the investigation.

Hitch, I dare say you may be taking these polls a little too seriously. I doubt Contador gives a toss. Personally, I think that people should vote for someone like Kittel or Martin who might appreciate the thought.

If you Contador fans want to get 'revenge' on Cycling News, then vote for Gilbert - he'll charge them a couple of thousand Euros to accept it.

I'm not liking having to vote for either Tondo or Weylandt. Think it would have been more tactful to not include either of them.

I know Contador doesnt care about it. I doubt Cav cares about whether posters think he is a legitimate world champion but that thread had 70 pages of posts.

This one has 7. If the opinions of posters can produce such a huge number of responses are you really surprised that the opinion of an organization has received a few responses?

And the Contador thing is minor. He wouldn't and shouldn't win anyway. Its the inclusion of Tour of Colorado that is most ridiculous.

"This is how serious people and websites loose their credibility. .."

100% agree. I dont understand why CN wants to control whom the reader want to vote.
