you have to include the time he will lose in les essarts.

Yes, you're right, a 74 second gap (I'm assuming the French conception of justice will win through and no correction will be made) after day 1 of 21 means game over.

Wiggins put over a minute in to very good time trialists on the Grenoble route. Contador is back on form on his TT bike this year. Schleck is still a weak TTer.

All in all, I would feel very uncomfortable on Andy's behalf unless he has a 2 minute advantage in Grenoble, and if you think today means Contador is very unlikely to be that close, well, good luck to you.

Wiggins as far as I know was involved in first crash, but I have to recheck that.

saxo and euskatel start as the first and second tomorrow. talk about insult to injury. rabo and liqui start early tomorrow. great advantage to bmc and leopard.

don't think it matters much really.

Time of start wont turn useless TTrs into good ones.

if contador needed\wanted a challenge, he will have one.

if andy loses this tour, he will never win. andy is obligated to win.

who must fell pressure? contador (he won pretty much anything he entered this year) or andy (he won )?

Contador,

He has the CAS decision hanging over his head not to mention people are saying he's the greatest cyclist of all time, not to mention no matter what Andy does he'll get cheered and no matter what Alberto does he'll get booed.

So lets see. What happens if Contador does manage to make up the lost time today, and goes on to win the tour. After having done a Giro?

Would be something, no?
That would turn Andy into a 21st century Bugno.

I'm hoping for sweeping winds and massive thunderstorms once the first two groups are finished.

unpredictable sh*t is what I like about this sport.

That was better than a prologue any day of the week. Most of my fave riders crashed out of contention but they have to fight to get back, Its a race not a coronation.
Evans and the 2 Shack riders are the quarry now.

It is only an advantage if the conditions stay the same or get better. If conditions get worse during the day then starting last could be a big handicap.

Timmy. WTF.

Timmy-loves-Rabo said:
the official site hasn't got him listed in the first 115 riders @2.25 down.

tour over for him . :(

So when Gesink is 2.25 its all right to call the Tour over for him.

BUT

When someone calls Samu down with almost exactly the same time and the same conclusion is reached.

The Hitch said:
The Tour is over for Samu at 1.20 + x>1 min ttt so they might as well threaten to withdraw or something.

Its "Dont be so dramatic".

Timmy-loves-Rabo said:

The next week will be chaotic. Chances are every rider might lose time at some point.

Samu's main goal is to podium anyway, this makes it harder, but there could be some benefits also.

hinting to BMC i guess. it will still make a difference. having reference to timechecks is vital.

BMC 2nd overall, this is what matters.

Yes, after all, public will not be allowed to be on the road if this kind of incidents happen and teams take advantage. Professional cycling as we know it will finish... or do you think that fora fans do support this sport?

Some of the contenders/big names:

Cadel Evans: +:02"
JvDb, Frank Schleck, Horner, Kloden, Martin, Cunego, Andy Schleck, Vino, Levi, Basso, Wiggins, Gesink :+:06
Samu, LL Sanchez, Contador: +1:20
Ryder Hesjedal, Kreuziger: +1:55

Sucks to be Samu right now and obviously Contador. Andy should be super thankful right now. Atleast he has something to work with.

bad luck for contador but I think it won't matter, I think contador is too tired to be riding this tour to win and is only here due to pressure from sponsors and the team and will end up being more than 1.20 off the lead in paris.

Very bad luck for sanchez though

Can we officialy stop calling riders by stupid names like baby, Clentador and other stupid unfunny things that makes this forum look like a fool forum (which it probably is if you read clinic posts)?
+1

i stand by this.

proper nicknames are fine, even endearments.

but those idiotic names that people use because they think they're hip and in-the-know (vis-à-vis who is and who isn't doping) belong in the Clinic.

it's getting really tiresome. it's also a very bad example to set for all the newbees -- as they will pick up on this and start doing it as well.
