It was hard to tell who'd actually gone down there. I don't think that either Urtasun or the Katusha rider were taking a natural break though.

After the interruption of an intermediate sprint, we apologise and return you to our regularly scheduled broadcast of nothing.

lol. Why do you have the urge to post about 10 of these comments during a flat race thread. We all know nothing happens. You don't have to tell us.
It's a bit over the top to do this all year long during every flat stage :D

For those watching the NBC Sports broadcast on line: did your data rate drop to a crawl a few minutes ago?

"The big Z is on the front... he's not that big ... nor is he very 'Z' shaped"

I love it! And it's only day 1 :D

Is it any good? Not sure I really want to shell out $30.

Dave Z on the front, maybe Thor is feeling good:)

Might have half an eye on making sure there are no time gaps today so if they win tomorrow then they get yellow as well. Dont want to work too much though in case they suffer for it tomorrow. Difficult balance.

I use it every year. (Used to be Versus, of course.) It's worth it because it's a high data rate and it's reliable. Or at least it has been. :)

What's *not* reliable, though, is the service provider, Time-Warner. Hope they don't screw it up this year.

Think its interesting how some teams with 2 sprinters, who didn't contest.

Hushovd, Feillu, Goss, Gilbert. Rojas.

Those who are thinking of the victory?

Hushovd has said that he's not going for the green jersey so often that it's actually comic.

There definitely some tensions between Hushovd, Farrar and Vaugthers. Hushovd was interviewed last night:
"I'm not even thinking about the green jersey."
"Why?"
"Ask Jonathan Vaugthers."

I'm picking Petacchi for the win. If this is indeed a finish that Hushovd can contest, so can Petacchi. Does anyone remember the details of the stage he won in Turkey? It was harder than today, right?

Can only find a rudimentary profile, but the field is a lot better at the Tour than it was in Turkey so I don't think he would have a great chance.

He's going to have a go at it, but gilbert wasn't in turkey;)

wow! maybe Garmin's not supporting going for green and instead is putting it's marbles more toward the GC?

I work Monday to Friday, so I have to get an entire week's worth of criticism of flat stages into today's showing.

Yes, there's definitely more people here that can contest it, but if Petacchi still is in good shape, I think he'll be among the best. Or I'm just hoping he will, hard to tell the difference sometimes.

Interesting. I did pick up some tension vis a vis Hushovd in the voice of Vaughters during the interview P&P did with him in the team car. And that was without knowing about the Hushovd comments you mention. "Ask Jonathan Vaugthers" probably means JV is putting his green jersey plans behind Farrar. Pretty obvious Thor doesn't like it.

There is way too much talent on Garmin-Cervelo right now. I think a move for Thor is his best option in the off season.

I think Thor can't wait to leave.

See above.

EDIT: Or, even more likely, JV isn't even contesting the Green Jersey and instead is focusing on stage wins.

JV said they are targetting stage wins first but if they are in a position to win Green, then of course they will go for it.

Now, just seen Rojas get drinks - does Ventoso have the legs out of the Movistar boys?
