Would expect Geraint to be up the road, he said he would try today on his diary entry (Cyclingnews) and expects an attacking race.

I thought exactly the same thing and consequently bet him at 50-1, only to see him now drift to 140-1, so I'm confused as hell.

What a joy a Geraint stage win would be.

Will he be a GC contender of the future - who knows ? but I would be a huge supporter if he progressed down that road . . . .

Just an awfully good chap !

The Barb - poor bet I'm afraid - if you still think G will have a good one, have a go at EBH at 10:1

G will be leading out for EBH . . . .

In fact has G ever been in a breakaway in any GRAND TOUR ?? Interested to know if he has??

That guy has the physical possibilities to pick up 8 cobbled monuments and you want him to chase a 9th place in the Vuelta? :)

I would like to see a BMC rider getting in a break it would just make it more entertaining for me as i reckon the break can win. someone like hincapie, burghardt or quinziato would be good.

Now this is a noob question, so apologies.

BUT

You can pull out the stages that Cav will be going for pretty easy and then there are stages like today. You guys say its going to be a bunched sprint, now, how do you know this? Looking at the elevation data, what are you looking at?

We're looking at the climbs. Their size, their gradient and their proximity to the finish line.

Most sprinters are fairly poor climbers (Cav being the worst). You have to judge how much time they will lose on climbs and whether they will have a chance to catch up.

Today, the last climb is quite small, not very steep and 15km from the finish, so Cav (and the other bad climbers) shouldn't have too much trouble being in the bunch for the finish (in my opinion, others will think differently)

He's only ridden three Grand Tours previously, and yes, he has been in at least one breakaway, in last year's Tour. Could've been in others I'm not sure.

ak-zaaf - why are you replying like that to my post - you put words in my mouth ?? STOP IT :mad::mad:

I think he means that G has a better future in the classics rather than as a GC contender.

Didn't he say "we'll try and get in the break" or something like that? I assumed he meant somebody from Team Sky, not necessarily himself.
