Of course, but normally a breakaway doesn't consist of top tier climbers, and he can make up a minute or so on the descend. In the dauphine he actually briefly got back to the main group on the last stage after the HC climb, making up more than 2 minutes on the descend.

You think he can hang with potential breakawayers like Van Garderen and Hesjedal? I'm not so sure.

he can neither sprint, descend, nor attack in the flat or time trial to maintain a potentially created gap.

The 2 tour stages he has won have also been after a decent (not as long but still) and some flat (again not as long as today but still)

Eurosport (and others) can just show what they get, and as long as French TV hasn't started with the live coverage, there's simply nothing to show (live)
