What can JV do about it? I don't think Hushovd is staying.

As an aside, today's rumor was Hushovd + Gilbert to BMC.

where did you hear of that rumor. BMC is starting to become the strongest team in the peloton if they get those 2.

Very nice and thoroughly deserved win by Hushovd, of course. Great rides by Roy (I feel very sorry for him), Bak, Gilbert and Petacchi, too. I don't think Ale (unlike Hushovd) ever thought he had a chance of getting anything out of this stage, but he kept going for it. I'd love to see him win some stage in this Tour, although it most likely won't happen. It's a pity Moncoutié is not at his very best, in his Vuelta form he would have won this stage for sure. Best moments of the day were Rojas and Ventoso outsmarting Cav and Jelle Vanendert sprinting for imaginary polka dot points on the Aubisque, though.

A pity for Roy, but what an utterly EPIC ride by Thor!

When saying that this was his greatest and also craziest win, he emphasized the whole calculated nature of the ride, and crossing the line with the rainbow jersey on.

Dutch tv is convinced he'll be joining Voeckler.

Hushovd definately did the epitome of riding within your limits, getting that lead on the flatter section of the Aubsique knowing Moncoutie would outclimb him easy, but also with the knowledge he could make up time on the descent and flatter sections.

If Roy does not get the award for being the most aggressive rider of the entire tour at the end, then something is completely wrong. He has been in 4 day long breaks (BOth days in the Mountains), and an counter attack with Voeckler, that I can recall right off the top of my head.

Nothing!

Wait, there were supposed to do something?

Now it would be great to see stages like this raced more aggressively but I don't begrudge anyone for riding the way they did.

Thor-Moncoutie-Roy was quite fun though even if it quickly became clear that it's down to them

What an immense turd of a stage. Leopard are idiots.

I turned over to watch the Open golf championship as it was so predictable when Thor started closing up on the descent.
It was a great start but there were only a handful of people racing after 40 k or so.

but why should they have chased.
sorry wasnt watching todays stage.
Of course they shouldn't have chased.

They should have put Cancellara or Voigt in the break, then have their teammates blow up the peloton in the first half of the Aubisque, hopefully isolating Contador, then they should have gone all out in an attempt to eliminate him for good. Bonus points if they catch Evans or anyone else.

Contador appears to be weak at the moment. It's insane to give him a chance to recover.

Just because no one does crap in stages like this anymore that doesn't mean you can't do anything in stages like this. The parcours was perfect for the purposes of getting rid of a weakened contender.

And lo the God if Thunder did smite the curse of the yellow jersey, and it ran back to Italy from whence it came.

And it was good.

I am a sad puppy at this moment :(

Great ride by Hushovd but feel sorry for Roy.

Although its funny in a way that this stage was designed for a French rider and exactly the way it was designed costs Roy the stage win.

Congrats Bak, stellar performance!
Was it designed in a Croissant shape? How in H** do you make a stage for french riders?
