I have to say this was probably the most dramatic Tour stage I've seen in years. And it's definitely the most gutsy attack I've seen in many years. Especially from someone often criticized for not taking any chances.

This is also the best Tour I've seen in several years. The early crashes sucked, but this has been a great Tour. We've seen close Tours in recent years, but none this exciting and unpredictable.

I am not a "hater" of any number one cyclist on here like some are (either Bertie or AS, or FS).

I have money on Evans so I am rooting for him, but I must say, Im gutted to see Bertie dropping like that. He is poetry in motion when at full belt.

Maybe a chunk of meat will give him the kick for tomorrow

We could very well have two Schlecks on the top two steps of the podium. Frank wins the stage tomorrow.
Cadel's still in with a chance, but Andy looks to be favorite now.

I agree. Some mornings I get up to go to the bathroom and i'm so excited to watch the stage I can't fall back asleep....killing like 3 hours waiting for the first feeds to come online.

How much does Andy need over Voeckler in the TT? I fear that there won't be big differences tomorrow since the stage is so short so Voeckler may stay within touching distance of the jersey.

Can someone with a practical knowledge of cycling can explain me, how in the name of God, Schleck gained so much time on descent and flat(minor ascent) against 40 guys, including some top domestiques?

ps. This Tour should be named "Where is Contador". If Contador isnt (counter)attacking, its ok to let Andy go. Wake up Evans. Deja vu from Sastre 2008?

Who was really chasing. Cadel had Bookwalter who had been in the break all day, and no-one else really seemed interested. Schleck had himself, Monfort and for some inexplicable reason the Quick Step rider (Devenyns I think) putting in major turns. Once Schleck got a gap theres no point trying to chase him on the climb, I was just suprised that Liquigas and Europcar seemed barely concerned.

Actually, the biggest surprise of the day today for me is Geraint Thomas, he towed Rigoberto Uran(!!!) up the mountain the whole day and down the descents, what could he have done with a free role?

Andy just did 3 hours at 200%. Evans did 30 minutes. I wont be surprised if Andy loses 20 minutes tomorow.

I totally agree....I am yet to accept that this was a wise move, the Schlecks still lack tactical dept. Burn out today, hang on big brother tomorrow. That is the plan plain and simple. I think AC read that and he and Sanchez tossed a coin and said rest up today. It was a tough call. But the faces at the end tell the whole story, Cadel is burnt out, Andy is wasted, TV is clearly history. this was red zone minus 100.

Wise move? Tomorrow will tell, a 10-20minute swing is not out of the picture. I still don't accept that 50 mile attack is any good, two people who have pulled that off in recent time, that I recall is chicken legs and Landis and we know the story of both.

Agree with all the above. The Yellow Cojones Award goes jointly to Andy, Cadel, and TV, as we wave goodbye to AC. The TT is really going to be something too!

What a glorious, fantastic, heroic, epic day's racing!!:D

I know I'm still pumped full of adrenalin after watching that, but when Chris Boardman said that it was the best TdF stage he had ever seen, I had a good thin....and I'm inclined to agree with him.

How the feck is Voeckler still there? Gutsy performances from AS, TV and CA today. It will live long in the memory.
